2、Scenic Spot Introduction
Dongping Lake Scenic Area covers a total area of 627 square kilometers. In ancient times, it was called Lyaowa, Dayeze, Juyeze, Liangshanbo, and Anshanhu. It was not until the Xianfeng reign of the Qing Dynasty that it was named Dongping Lake. It is the only remaining water area of the 800-li Water Margin in “Water Margin”. In 1985, it was announced as a provincial-level scenic spot by the People’s Government of Shandong Province. It is also an important scenic spot in the Water Margin tourism route launched by Shandong Province.
It is close to the Grand Canal to the west, connected to the Da’ai River to the east, and connected to the Yellow River to the north. It mainly includes the Water Margin Film and Television City, the Six-gong Mountain Water Margin Fortress, Gathering of Righteousness Island, the Thousand-year-old Song City, Daicunba, Lushan National Forest Park, Kunshan Scenic Area, Huangshi Cliff Scenic Area, Baifoshan, Hongding Mountain Cliff Inscriptions, and over 100 other scenic spots. The Dongping Film and Television Shooting Base, headed by the Water Margin Film and Television City, covers an area of 370 square kilometers and is the main shooting location for the 80-episode new version of the TV series “Water Margin”.
The Water Margin Film and Television City has been rated as the most shocking performance in Shandong tourism, the Top 10 Tourist Attractions of the Year in Hospitable Shandong, and the most competitive tourist attraction in “Brand Shandong”. The Six-gong Mountain Water Margin Fortress is the largest Water Margin Fortress in the world and is known as the “World’s No. 1 Water Margin Fortress”. Daicunba is known as the “Jiangbei Dujiangyan”. Baifoshan has the largest Buddha statue of the Sui Dynasty in Qilu. Dongping Lake Scenic Area is surrounded by mountains on three sides and has beautiful scenery. It is known as the “Little Dongting Lake”.
