Located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yalu River in Dan Dong City, the Yalu River Scenic Area is divided into six major scenic areas: Jiangkou, Daqiao, Hushan, Taiping Bay, Shuifeng, and Lujiang. It is a river scenic spot integrating a panoramic view of the two countries, historical relics, vacation and recuperation, scientific research, and exotic tourism.
2、Introduction to the Scenic Area
The Dan Dong Yalu River Scenic Area faces across the river from Bitong, Qingshui, Yizhou and Sinuiju in North Korea, and is famous for its beautiful natural scenery, numerous cultural landscapes, unique geographical location and superior environmental quality. The Yalu River, formerly known as Peishui and Mazisui, was named Yalu River in the Tang Dynasty. It is a boundary river between China and North Korea, originating from the Changbai Mountain Tianchi.
The Yalu River is named after the color of the water. The emerald green water is like the bright green of a drake’s neck. Green peaks stand on both sides of the river, with beautiful scenery. The river winds and turns, with rapid currents and dangerous shoals. The artificial lakes formed by the four cascade power stations on the Yalu River, Yunfeng, Weiyuan (Laohushao), Shuifeng, and Taiping Bay, are like four pearls, forming two national-level famous scenic spots, the Yalu River Border Tourism Area and the Yalu River Scenic Area.

①、When traveling to Dan Dong in winter, pay attention to keeping warm during outdoor activities, especially for the head, hands and feet. Also wear sunglasses when skiing to avoid snow blindness.
②、Dan Dong has four distinct seasons, with short winters and summers and long transitional seasons of spring and autumn. Winter starts late, and spring temperatures rise slowly. Summer is short and cool.
