Sanya seems to be a popular tourist destination all year round. Now that summer vacation is over and the kids are back in school, the number of tourists has dropped significantly. This is a good time to travel and avoid the crowds that often occur in popular seaside areas. My Sanya trip began like this.

Winter is also the peak season for Sanya, while summer is the off-season. The price of flights to Sanya is very favorable in the summer, and even more so after the start of school. This time I happened to catch a flight just after a typhoon, so the flight arrived on time. As soon as I got off the plane, I went to the First Market for a seafood feast.
DAY1 First Seafood Market, Yalong Bay Beach
The First Market is centered around Xinjie Street and expands outwards, forming a grid pattern. The busiest area is Xinjie Street, with vendors lining both sides of the street. A wide variety of snacks are available.
I bought about 10 kinds of seafood, including Australian lobster, flower crab, blue crab, king prawns, elephant trunk clams, abalone, scallops, etc. A full table of seafood only cost me about 400 yuan, plus 200 yuan for processing fees, a seafood feast for four would cost about 700 yuan.
DAY2. Sanya Ancient Love Story Scenic Area
Besides playing by the sea and eating seafood, you can also experience the life of the Tanka people, the Li and Miao cultures, and this winter there is also a vibrant Hawaiian grass skirt show waiting for you → come and experience the Sanya Songcheng Ancient Love Story, which is known as making Sanya’s nights no longer lonely.
It features a Hawaiian grass skirt dance show, Hawaiian flower parade, Aloha grass skirt dance competition, chief’s marriage, climbing coconut trees with bare hands, grass skirt flash mob, grass skirt potluck, and other newly upgraded twenty major performance shows. It will also launch multiple grass skirt dance parties for different groups.
Recommended way to play:
1. The scenic area opens at 10 am, it is recommended to enter after lunch. The tour time is about 4 hours.
2. Enter at 1 pm, first go to the four themed zoos, the Ice and Snow World.
3. Water park, have fun until 4 pm, then take a break.
4. Watch the Ancient Love Story performance at 5 pm, leave the scenic area at 6 pm, and have dinner in the city center.
Songcheng Colorful Zoo
Adjacent to the Sanya Ancient Love Story Scenic Area, Songcheng Ice and Snow World, and Songcheng Langlanglang Park.
Langlanglang Water Park
There are dozens of large-scale water amusement projects, including The Wandering of Time, Crossing Time and Space, Sanya Horn, Mountain Stream Crossing, Double Slide, Rainbow Slide, Jungle Drifting, Happy Water Village, and Tide Chasers.
Ice and Snow World
Sanya is indeed very hot. Perhaps the person in charge of the project knows this, so they have specially set up an “Ice and Snow World” so that everyone can experience the real winter in Sanya.
DAY3. Blue Bay Green City Westin Resort Hotel
Free shuttle bus service to any attractions within 8 km of the hotel, including the famous Nawan Monkey Island. Golf carts are also available for convenient transportation to the nearby Jianhu Blue Bay Golf Course.
DAY4. Sanya Duty Free Shop
This duty-free shop is really amazing! One of the reasons it is so popular is that in the past, duty-free shopping was only available when you were leaving the country. However, Sanya International Duty Free City does not require you to leave the country. As long as you are in Sanya and have a plane ticket or train ticket to leave the island, you can enjoy shopping!
This day was mainly for shopping, and if you come at the right time, you can also find many discounts. For example, when I came, it was September 1st, the 3rd anniversary of Sanya International Duty Free City, and there was a 15% discount on all duty-free goods under 8,000 yuan!! The popularity was really high!

1. This time I focused on relaxing and staying at hotels, so the only paid ticket I bought was for the Sanya Ancient Love Story. You can book your tickets online in advance to choose your seats and save time queuing at the venue.
2. Sanya Ancient Love Story performance ticket: 280 yuan/person, online purchase 250 yuan/person;
3. Performance ticket, Colorful Zoo ticket, Ice and Snow World ticket, Langlanglang Water Park ticket, combined ticket 480 yuan/person, online purchase 430 yuan/person
4. You can also buy performance tickets separately and combine them with any other tickets, the online tickets have prices;
【Travel Tips】
1. It is a seaside city, with strong sea breezes, so be sure to wear sunscreen;
2. There are a lot of touts, no matter what kind of tout it is, if you don’t want to deal with them, it’s best not to ask them. Don’t be afraid of touts in the First Seafood Market, there is a strategy below.
3. If you want to buy fruit or souvenirs, go to large supermarkets like Lianhua, it is much fresher and cheaper.
【About Accommodation】
Honestly, Sanya has too many high-star hotels. If you want to save money and stay in cheap guesthouses or budget hotels, how can you call it a vacation? Sanya’s high-star hotels are very competitive, and each hotel has promotions on booking websites. In the off-season, you can stay in a five-star hotel for 400-600 yuan per night. This time I stayed at the Yalong Bay Welcome Hotel and the Green City Blue Bay Westin Resort Hotel. Both are 80-100 square meter executive suites, and they only cost 1,000 yuan per night!!!
