What are the nicknames of Nanjing? What are the must-visit attractions in Nanjing?

Nanjing is steeped in history. Its deep history not only stems from the cultural heritage of the Six Dynasties, but also from the important political arena of the Republic of China in the early stages of China’s reform and opening up. Chiang Kai-shek rose to power here, and later when the war broke out, Nanjing was occupied by Japan, and the brutal Nanjing Massacre cast a different veil over this ancient city, thus sealing its extraordinary fate. This place is something I have been looking forward to for a long time, to feel the different, strong atmosphere of this place that has weathered the storms of time.

History

The Qinhuai River is one of the must-visit places in Nanjing. The ancient capital of the Wei and Jin Dynasties, the first sight of the Qinhuai River reminded me of Li Shangyin’s poem “The merchant girls don’t know the country’s sorrow, they sing songs of the imperial court across the river.” I was hoping that there would be a stage set up at the Qinhuai River pier to recreate the scene in the poem, but alas, there was none. The daytime scenery is not as beautiful as the night scenery. During the day, all you see are commercial activities and hordes of tourists. The night view is still worth looking forward to, with yellow lights hitting the ancient Huizhou architecture, you can see the prosperity of this city. If a stage were to be set up for a performance, it would perfectly capture the historical feeling of the Wei and Jin Dynasties, but it is a pity that there is nothing more to the night view than the lights. After watching Zhang Yimou’s film “The Flowers of War”, I still wanted to hear the sound of the pipa here.

The Zhongshan Mausoleum Scenic Area is one of the places worth visiting. The Zhongshan Mausoleum Scenic Area mainly includes three attractions: Zhongshan Mausoleum, Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum and Meiling Palace. Zhongshan Mausoleum is the tomb of Sun Yat-sen. It is said that Sun Yat-sen said in his lifetime that Zhongshan was a good place, and his descendants buried him here according to this. As you walk up step by step, you do feel the awe of this tomb. After walking through three sections of steps, you finally reach the tomb. Standing on top and looking ahead, you have a wide field of vision, which is in line with Chinese geomancy. It is indeed a good place. Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum is the tomb of Zhu Yuanzhang. Due to time constraints, I did not go. The tomb is not only a place for posterity to remember their ancestors, but also a place for the inheritance of the ancestors’ spiritual ideas. It is a good place for patriotic education. It is very solemn, and during the tour, one is subtly influenced by this spirit.

The Presidential Palace is where Chiang Kai-shek lived during the Republic of China, I don’t know much about the specific history. Because my friend didn’t have an ID, we didn’t buy tickets and gave up going inside to see it. But you can vaguely feel the grandeur of the Presidential Palace from the outside wall. My friend said the walls of the Forbidden City are more imposing than this one. It really shows that I lack experience and need to go out and see more of the world. I was happy that the 1912 Street next to the Presidential Palace has a lot of character, with a full set of buildings in the style of the Republic of China. I also came across a store from Zhang Jiajia’s story “Passing Through Your World”, naturally, it’s about the story. I was so excited that I forgot to take a look at it. I love the writers who come from Nanjing. Maybe it’s fate. My best friend, a talented writer for over a decade, is also in this city. Maybe this city infected him, or maybe he and this city are destined to be together, accepting and influencing each other. It is said that there is also a Vanguard Bookstore with a lot of character. I was really disappointed that I didn’t go there. I took some beautiful pictures on 1912 Street and was very happy.

The Nanjing City Museum and the Memorial Hall of the Nanjing Massacre of the Victims of the Japanese Invasion of China are the most worth visiting places, but unfortunately they were closed when I went there. There are also ancient city walls of Nanjing on the edge of Crescent Lake where you can find ancient remains of Nanjing. Teacher Cao kept mentioning Xuanwu Lake, but I haven’t seen what it looks like. I didn’t have time to see all these places. I will have to go back again next time.

Food

People need to eat to live, and anyone should be irresistible to food. Nanjing, a city with a long history and culture, has its own unique food, such as Qinhuai Eight Wonders, duck blood vermicelli soup and so on. Of all the food I’ve eaten, I love duck blood vermicelli soup the most, it’s delicious. As for the Qinhuai Eight Wonders, I’m not sure. Maybe I didn’t get the authentic taste, or maybe I was too greedy at the beginning and ate too much of the not-so-delicious pot stickers and soup dumplings, so I didn’t want to eat anything else later. Nanjing’s “Da Pai Dang” is said to be a specialty of Nanjing. I went there specially, but was scared away by the number of people who were waiting, over 160 people. So many people go there to eat, the food must be pretty good. I’m not really into food, so I can only say so much.

Transportation

After two days of touring, I felt that Nanjing’s subway system is super convenient. Compared to Nanchang, where I’ve been for six years and they only have one line, Nanjing’s transportation can be said to be well-connected, almost every attraction can be reached by subway. I hope Nanchang’s subway will be built soon. You can see the economic gap between cities from the transportation.

Emotions

Two of my best friends from high school are in Nanjing, so I didn’t feel bored at all, and it actually saved me a lot of time, I saw a lot of different scenery, I am very grateful.

This Nanjing trip has come to an end here. I believe I will come back next time. The Nanjing Massacre Museum is my regret, next time I will definitely go to see it. The historical atmosphere, the cultural atmosphere, the political atmosphere here is too thick, but many things exist in the hearts of each of us, they are remembered by every Chinese, so don’t be overwhelmed by the sadness, in fact, there is also a beautiful love story here, which has been passed down to this day.

The most beautiful necklace in Nanjing’s Meiling Palace, it is probably Chiang Kai-shek’s promise to Song Meiling for life and life. Song Meiling loved the sycamore tree, so Chiang Kai-shek planted such a sycamore necklace for her, it was their love, and it also reduced a lot of the weight of this city.
