There are many attractions on both sides of the main street of the town, such as the Ironware Culture Museum, Hongtaifang, the former site of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, Tao Cheng’s Former Residence, Zeng Guofan’s Water Site, etc. These attractions are relatively good value for money, but it may be more attractive to the elderly and children. There are also many snack shops that sell on the go, and the shopkeeper’s skillful skills are worth seeing. Besides, the old objects in the weighing shop and iron shop are very suitable for taking pictures.
Jinggang is suitable for a one-day tour, so if you have enough time, you can stay overnight. You can enjoy the quiet town morning undisturbed by tourists. There are a few guesthouses on the main street, the rooms are nothing special, and there are ginger, salt, sesame bean tea, small and large flower pieces, pickled dried fish, etc. in the street stalls.
Zhaoshan
Free
Zhaoshan is a small hill with an altitude of 185 meters on the bank of the Xiangjiang River. It is one of the “Eight Scenery of Ancient Xiangxi”, “City in the Mist”. What is worth seeing is the Zhaoshan and Yijiawan market after the rain, but unfortunately the market no longer exists. The weather here is always gray, and the scenic spot is also under construction of Guanyin Temple, Thousand Buddha Pagoda and other buildings and tourism facilities, intending to create a new version of “City in the Mist” with greater influence.
It takes about half an hour to climb to the Zhaoshan Ancient Temple on the top of the mountain along the stone path. The ancient temple was built in the early Tang Dynasty. The current four-courtyard building was built in 2017. The dark and simple exterior is solemn and simple. The viewing platform outside the temple can also see the Xiangjiang River winding into the distance. A small path behind the temple leads to the Penjiafeng viewing platform, which is at a higher altitude, but the scenery is not as good as the former.
