Where to Camp and BBQ in Suzhou

The temperature in Suzhou is now suitable for camping, which is a good time for you to go camping with your friends and family. Here are some great places for BBQ and camping in Suzhou.

1、 Shangfang Mountain

Shangfang Mountain is located in Shihu Scenic Area, Wuzhong District. The park consists of the main scenic area, the sightseeing orchard area and the forest recreation area. Every year, there will be a “Hundred Flowers Festival” here. It is also a good experience to eat BBQ, breathe fresh air and enjoy the flowers with your family.

2、 Dongshan Yuhua Scenic Spot

Yuhua Scenic Spot has an indissoluble bond with peach blossoms. It is said that in the Ming Dynasty, the mountain gully here was full of peach trees. When the peach blossoms withered, the mountain gully and the creek were filled with “peach blossom rain” in the breeze, hence the name “Yuhua”. You can rent a BBQ grill here, which can accommodate 6-8 people, but you need to bring your own food.

3、 Suzhou Taihu Park

There are two choices for outdoor BBQ here. One is the most common grill, and the other is a round stone oven, which is more characteristic. A group of friends can sit around, which is convenient for both BBQ and “chatting”.

After BBQ, you can take a walk by the lake, enjoy the lake breeze, buy a kite to return to your childhood; or find a windless lawn, spread out a blanket and play cards or board games. The lush greenery is absolutely incomparable to urban tea rooms and coffee shops.

4、 Baimajian Ecological Park

Baimajian is a natural ecological leisure resort in Suzhou urban area. It was also the place where Goujian, King of Yue, lay in seclusion for nine years to raise horses for the King of Wu. There are BBQ grills provided here, you cannot bring your own BBQ grills.

5、 Xiaodian Lake Forest Park

Xiaodian Lake Forest Park is also a good place with beautiful scenery and no crowds. There is a lawn in the BBQ area for people to set up tents and play.

6、 Tianping Mountain

Tianping Mountain Scenic Area is located in the southwest of Suzhou ancient city, on the bank of Taihu Lake. It is the core scenic area of Taihu National Scenic Area and is known as “the first mountain in Wuzhong” and “the beautiful scenery of Jiangnan”. It is one of the four best places to admire maple leaves in China. BBQ and outing in such beautiful scenery, it’s wonderful just thinking about it!

7、 Huashan

Huashan has a long history. There is the highest Yuan Dynasty stone-carved Buddha statue in the Jiangnan region on the hillside. Cuiyan Temple in the mountain was built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. It still retains the imperial steles of Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong. Compared with other mountains in Suzhou, this place is more secluded. It’s also a different experience to BBQ while listening to the chirping of birds and insects.

8、 Green Light Farm

Green Light Farm is located in the former Xishan National Modern Agricultural Demonstration Park. The land area is about 500 acres, and the whole scenic area is surrounded by natural lake water. It is a leisure tourism resort integrating catering, accommodation, conference, fragrant herb flower fields, and entertainment.

You know how spacious it is when you hear the word “farm”. The venue is free, you need to bring your own grill and food, suitable for hardworking people.
