3、Scenic Spot Introduction
Qilin Mountain Park is a national 4A-level tourist area, located in the downtown area of Guiyang, covering an area of 332 hectares. The park is connected to Zaoshan Road in the south, close to Baguoyan Road in the east, with Shibei Road in the northeast, Guan Dao Yan and Xiaoguan Reservoir in the north, and Changpo Ling Forest Farm, Qichong Ling, Sanqiao Village and Shengquan in the west. With an area of 332 hectares, it is one of the few large comprehensive urban parks in China.
It is famous for its clear mountains, beautiful water, secluded forests, ancient temples, holy springs and spirit monkeys. The park was built in 1957. It has towering peaks, ancient trees, lush woods, ancient caves and clear streams, deep valleys and secluded pools, and beautiful scenery. Since ancient times, it has been a brilliant pearl on the Guizhou Plateau, with the reputation of “the first mountain in southern Guizhou”.
The park is home to towering ancient trees and dense vegetation, gathering the spiritual energy of the Guizhou Plateau. There are more than 1,500 species of trees and flowers and more than 1,000 species of precious medicinal herbs growing on the mountain. Clear springs and strange rocks can be seen everywhere, and there are groups of rock monkeys and birds living here.
Following the “Nine Curves Path” up the mountain, you can reach Hongfu Temple, which was built in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties and is one of the famous Buddhist temples in Guizhou. Hongfu Temple, together with the Qilin Cave at the foot of the mountain and the cliff stone carvings on the mountain, are all provincial-level key cultural relics protection units. During the Anti-Japanese War, patriotic generals Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng were placed under house arrest in Qilin Cave.
On the winding path leading to the temple, you can see a group of stone carvings on the steep cliffs. Climb to the top of the mountain to the “Kan Zhu Ting”, and you can enjoy a panoramic view of Guiyang city.
At the foot of the mountain is the sparkling Qilin Lake. The lake is like a mirror, with playful little fish jumping out of the water from time to time. A boat quietly sails on the water. There is a monument to the revolutionary martyrs on the bank of the lake, hidden among the pines and cypresses. Qilin Mountain Park is a comprehensive sightseeing park. In the secluded valleys of the park, there is also a zoo. The mountain retains traces of the Quaternary glacial period.
Qilin Mountain Park is not only a famous scenic spot in China, but also has a complex geological structure and a wide variety of plants, making it an ideal base for teaching practice.
