Later, she died at sea while rescuing people. According to legend, she still appeared in the sea after her death and rescued people from danger. Therefore, she was known as the “Sea God”, and she was most respected by the people along the coast. So why did Mazu, who is regarded as the guardian god by coastal people, appear in Zhenyuan, which is far away from the sea? According to inquiries, Zhenyuan’s Tianhou Temple was built during the Qing Dynasty, also known as the Fujian Guild Hall, which was built by people from Fujian who lived there.
