On the morning of April 6th, we had breakfast and took the bus (buses 210 and 203 both go to the ancient town) and arrived at the outskirts of the ancient town around 10 am. To be honest, we have been to many ancient towns in recent years, and we are not very interested in modern ancient towns with a strong commercial flavor.

Qingyan Ancient Town is one of the most famous ancient towns in Southwest China. It has a very long history. It was built as a military defense stronghold during the early Ming Dynasty when Zhu Yuanzhang established the Ming Dynasty. Later, it gradually developed into a unique ancient town with a flourishing business. The buildings here are very unique, exquisite and beautiful, and they can be regarded as a crystallization of the wisdom and artistic achievements of the ancient Chinese people. Free Ticket Policy

1. Senior citizens aged 70 and above can enjoy free tickets by presenting a valid ID card.

Introduction to Qingyan Ancient Town:

Qingyan Ancient Town is located in Guizhou Province, in the southern part of Guiyang City. It was built in 1378 AD. It was a very important military defense base in ancient times. The design and craftsmanship of the buildings in the town are very exquisite, and the engineering reached its peak. The scale of the building complex is also quite large and well-preserved, forming a unique cultural style of South China, allowing you to fully experience a luxurious visual feast.

There are many literati and scholars here, and many celebrities have appeared. In ancient times, there was Zhou Yuhuang. In the late Qing Dynasty, the famous champion Zhao Yijiong appeared. This was the first champion ever obtained in the history of Guizhou Province, which is very significant. Now there is also a champion’s mansion, which is a good attraction. During the Republic of China, the center of resistance against Japan moved southwest. Many important revolutionary pioneers appeared here. The father and father-in-law of our beloved Premier Zhou Enlai lived here, and the famous intelligence chief General Li Kenong also appeared here.

Qingyan Ancient Town was also a base for the relocation of key universities such as Zhejiang University during the War of Resistance Against Japan, making the cultural atmosphere here even more rich and colorful.

After getting off the bus, we were stopped by a local girl. She told us that we could eat at her house and get rid of the 10 yuan per person entrance fee. We discussed it and thought it was feasible, so we agreed to her.

Those who love traveling are mostly those who love to eat and drink. Before we even reached the entrance of the ancient town, we were tasting delicious wine on the street. After everyone tasted it, they all gave a thumbs up to the “Ancient Town Buyi Sweet Rice Wine”. We bought a pound and continued walking, hehe.

After contacting the store by phone, the waiter led us into the city. The first restaurant on the left after entering the city gate. Everyone wanted to stroll around the city first and have lunch at the store when they were tired. The store also wanted to be safe, so they charged 10 yuan per person as a deposit first, gave you a receipt, and when you came to eat at his store, the deposit would be deducted when you checked out. This really proves the saying “Every chicken has its own way of peeing.”

I like the small Qingyan Ancient Town, the simple stone roads and the bluestone walls are my favorites. I took several shots.

Cake porridge is a specialty of Qingyan Ancient Town. It is made by pouring boiling water into lotus root powder to make a transparent paste, then putting in steamed cakes, and adding some peanuts, melon seeds, sesame seeds, and candied fruit.

Qingyan Ancient Town is one of the four major ancient towns in Guizhou Province. It is located in the southern suburbs of Guiyang City. It was built in 1378 during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty and was originally a military stronghold. Now it has become a popular destination for tourists to relax and explore. This is also a cash cow for local residents.

Leaving Qingyan Ancient Town reluctantly, I hope that next time I come, I can stay at a homestay in the town. On a quiet night, I can watch the beauty of the meteor shower across the night sky, listen to the sound of the wind and rain beating against the city wall, and feel the temperature of the morning dew on my hands.
