Casablanca + Marrakech Travel Guide

This time I’m going to talk about a rather interesting place. This is just two small cities in Morocco, now the editor will take you to see what you need to pay attention to when going to Casablanca and Marrakech.

Casablanca GuideCasablanca + Marrakech Travel Guide

1. Arrive by plane: Morocco has been visa-free for China since June 2016, so you can go to this North African country with just a passport. Arriving at Casablanca Mohammed V Airport was after 9 pm, the exit speed is not as slow as said in other guides. The flight attendants will distribute entry forms, so remember to bring a pen, you can fill it out on the plane in advance. Exit procedures + baggage claim took about half an hour.

2. Currency exchange at the airport: Dirham is a closed currency that cannot be taken out of Morocco, RMB is not useful there either, so you can directly exchange to Euros or US dollars in China, and then exchange to Dirham. The airport exchange rate is not cost-effective, we exchanged 100 Euros, which felt like a loss of 80 Yuan… 100 Euros was enough for the two of us to support us until Marrakech! The famous exchange point in Marrakech, hotel ali, is more cost-effective, about 1 Euro = 10.63 Dirham.

3. Mobile phone card: At the airport, we only found the free pick-up point of inwi… Because the signal was said to be very bad, we didn’t install it at all… We bought a Maroc Telecom card at casa voyager train station on our way to Marrakech, 1 person 1 card 80 Dirham 3GB was enough for us for 10 days. Telecom basically has signal all the way, only in the desert, no~ Legend has it that Orange will have signal in the desert… inwi’s signal will be better in the Atlas Mountains~ So it is recommended that if there are several people, you can use cards from different companies so that if anyone has no signal, you can share the hotspot…(if you really need signal all the time~~)

4. From the airport to the city center: Generally, you can take the train to casa port. 45 minutes, 43 Dirham, but because we arrived late and were disheveled, we decided to take a Taxi directly to the hotel, thinking it was a night flight, so we didn’t haggle for the price of 300 Dirham. (It is said that 30 Euros can be settled) By the way, the two of us are not good at bargaining, so please take this as a standard for the shopping guide, that is, if you buy more expensive than me, it must be overpriced. Remember the two train stations in the city of Casablanca, one is casa port connected to the airport, the other is Casa voyager connected to other major cities such as Marrakech. The two stations are a bit far apart, don’t get it wrong.

5. City hotel: This night in Casablanca is very short, just for sleeping, plus we thought we could take the train to casa port… so the accommodation standard is clean, tidy, convenient… we chose the chain Ibis casablanca city center. Right next to casa port. 401 RMB, this price in this location is still ok.

1. Taxi: Please be sure to choose professional taxis, that is, cars with Taxi signs on the top… the prices are generally reasonable, just haggle a little, and the drivers will be more responsible!

2. Accommodation: Because you can’t drive in Medina, it is best to choose accommodation near the outskirts of the old city, otherwise it is really difficult to walk with a suitcase, or just don’t stay in the old city. If you really live in the old city, please be sure to look at the location on the map or write down the address and take a picture of the approximate direction on the map. Because some drivers don’t speak English, they only speak French, it’s more intuitive to look at the map to get you to the nearest entrance to the hotel!

3. Train: Casablanca to Marrakech train time slots:

06h20mn-09h35mn

06h50mn-10h10mn

08h50mn-12h10mn

10h50mn-14h10mn

12h50mn-16h10mn

14h50mn-18h10mn

16h50mn-20h10mn

18h50mn-22h10mn

20h50mn-00h10mn

Don’t throw away your train tickets!!! There will be attendants checking tickets on the way!!!

4. Currency exchange: Google map hotel ali, it’s on Djemaa el-Fna Square, the exchange rate is cost-effective!
