The current weather is perfect for outdoor camping, so where in Chongqing are there parks with good environments that allow tents and picnics? Below, the editor has compiled a list of suitable park locations. For details, see the main text. Go out and have fun!
Setting up tents
In January 2023, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development issued a “Notice on Carrying Out Pilot Programs for Open Sharing of Urban Parks and Green Spaces,” encouraging localities to develop appropriate methods for setting aside open shared areas in park lawns, vacant land, and under forest spaces to better meet people’s new needs and expectations for getting close to nature, leisure, recreation, and exercise.
The Chongqing Municipal Urban Management Bureau responded positively and developed a “Implementation Plan for Pilot Programs for Open Sharing of Urban Parks and Green Spaces.” In April, the first batch of 35 parks began piloting open sharing, providing citizens and tourists with opportunities to participate in various activities that bring them closer to nature.
First Batch of Parks
The first batch of 35 parks includes 59 flat areas with relatively complete and convenient service facilities and emergency facilities, lawns suitable for recreational activities, and spaces under forests, which are available for citizens and tourists to participate in various activities that bring them closer to nature.
Urban Parks and Green Spaces in Chongqing that are planned to be open for sharing in the first batch
The 35 parks and green spaces will begin sharing their space from late April onwards. Based on the park’s relevant plans and its own green space characteristics, the open sharing areas are divided into categories such as tent areas, outdoor picnic (cold food) areas, leisure fitness areas, and kite-flying areas. The daily opening hours are the same as the park’s opening hours, and in principle, overnight stays are not permitted.
To prevent vegetation from being excessively trampled and affecting normal growth, a rotational maintenance mechanism is implemented in green spaces. During the seeding and maintenance period of lawns, shared green spaces will be temporarily closed.
To ensure safety, any open fire activities are prohibited in the open sharing areas, and kites are strictly prohibited under high-voltage lines.
Second Batch of Parks
To further expand the scope of parkland open for sharing, 43 parks and 77 public spaces are now being announced in the second batch. The open sharing period begins in October. The open sharing areas are divided into tent areas, picnic (cold food) areas, leisure fitness areas, etc.
Daily opening hours are the same as the park’s opening hours. Open fires are not permitted, and overnight stays are not permitted in principle.
