Changxing County is located in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province. It is a delicate Jiangnan city with a profound historical and cultural heritage. The water here is very clear, the people are cheerful and open-minded, and they exude a sense of confidence and satisfaction. Here is a detailed two-day tour strategy for Changxing.
I’ve long heard that Changxing, Zhejiang is a beautiful mountain and water resort with picturesque scenery. I’ve been eager to visit for a long time, and now I’m fortunate to be traveling with the teachers from the Lvceng Writers’ Association for a field trip, making this trip even more enjoyable.
The two and a half hour drive isn’t tiring because of the tour guide’s humorous commentary and the writers’ association teachers’ chain of poems, songs, and recitations. This lets us see that these teachers are not only good writers, but also singers and performers, truly passionate and loving life. Spring is vibrant outside the window, and enthusiasm fills the inside. Changxing, we’re here! With joyous hearts, we’ll have a close encounter with you.

As the car drove into the farm, the primitive environment and the villa-style houses caught my eye, filling me with enchantment. Every household has its own independent courtyard, with three-story or four-story villas, exquisite and elegant in appearance, forming a self-contained unit.
The spacious courtyard is planted with various colorful flowers and trees. Many houses are surrounded by bamboo and trees, with tea trees surrounding them.
Only a few old houses lie quietly among them, leaving traces of ancient time and vicissitudes. Here, it’s peaceful and tranquil, clean, free from the backwardness and isolation of the countryside, and untouched by commercial development. This should be the ideal residence for most people. I hear that more and more people come to Changxing for vacation and leisure every year, often staying for months and reluctant to leave.
The house we stayed in is large, with dozens of rooms, accommodating tourists from all over. Looking out from the beautifully decorated room, the green mountains are shy, rolling in the distance, like smoke and dreams. Up close, the bamboos sway gracefully, dense and thick, like a green ocean, rippling in the breeze. The sky and the river seem to be dyed green as well. Sitting inside, you’re faced with a landscape painting, a spring scene. Having tea and chatting with friends facing such mountains, bamboo forest, and spring, it’s truly a beautiful enjoyment.
The place we’re staying is in Shuikou Village, Changxing. It’s been recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in China. Once a poor mountain village, it has undergone a drastic transformation. The people here are wise and insightful, and their slogan is “Green mountains and green waters are golden mountains and silver mountains.”
They rely on the mountains and water as their carriers. They attract people from all over China. The mountains are their lives, and the water is their soul. They don’t allow any destruction or pollution here. They are intimately connected with the mountains and water, and the mountains and water make their lives healthier and more prosperous.
After a short rest in the village house and a simple meal, we went to the famous Xianshan Lake. In the past, this was a vast expanse of farmland and villages. Now it’s submerged, becoming a reservoir and wetlands.
Xianshan Lake sits beside Xianshan Mountain, with several islands and forests within the lake. Our group sat on a cruise boat, admiring the lake scenery. We saw vast blue waves, with the sky and water blending together. The distant multi-arch bridge is like the Broken Bridge on West Lake, simple and elegant, making you feel like you’re in West Lake.
The boat sailed from the open water into a long narrow waterway. It turned out that islands and shoals lined both sides. As the boat passed, the waves surged forward, gently swallowing up the many duckweeds floating on the water’s surface, making us mistake them for some unknown creature in the lake. Seeing the approaching boat, they seemed to have made a pact to hide underwater and play. In a blink of an eye, they disappeared, which was quite amusing.
The weather was stuffy while we were lining up on the shore. But on the cruise boat, we enjoyed a cool breeze, making us feel comfortable. We were accompanied by a lively young boat lady who gave us a commentary about the local history and customs in Changxing dialect mixed with Mandarin.
The boat drifted gently, the lake water shimmering. The scenery remained the same, but each person saw a different view of the lake. I like the lake nestled against the green mountains. I also enjoy seeing the misty rain on the lake, the boats, and the fishing nets. Different weather brings different moods.
Lost in thought, the boat had already docked. Stepping onto the island, we looked around and saw another small lake inside the island, connected by a winding long bridge. Lush greenery surrounded the island.
We strolled along the embankment, admiring the lake scenery and chatting. This field trip brought us together, allowing us to interact with authors and teachers we didn’t know before. I also witnessed the vast knowledge and humorous wit of Chairman Pang and the other teachers.
We talked about literature, life, and experiences together. This opportunity was truly rare. The weather was also cooperating. The previous stuffiness had vanished, replaced by a gentle breeze and a few drops of rain, increasing our desire to roam and brightening our mood. We left behind laughter on the beautiful shores of Xianshan Lake and captured many treasured photos.
Because our purpose was a field trip rather than a hurried tour, our itinerary was relaxed and leisurely, giving us more time to experience the local customs and traditions.
After returning to the farm and resting for the night, a few teachers got together at dawn to stroll through the bamboo forest next to the village. We stepped on the dew-covered grass, accompanied by the clear chirping of birds, and plunged into the deep, dense bamboo forest. We touched the tall, smooth bamboo shoots, feeling like joyful children.
The grass was fresh and green, and mist floated like a light veil. We wandered freely among them, breathing in the fresh air. Here, we escaped the noise and returned to the embrace of nature, finding our inner selves. It was almost breakfast time, and we reluctantly returned to the farm for a meal.
We were heading to the Tang Dynasty Tribute Tea Courtyard.
Beautiful green mountains lined the way. We could enjoy the scenery along the route from the car.
The tea courtyard was built in the Tang Dynasty. The tea produced here is of high quality and delicious taste, making it the source of tea for the imperial court.
Built against the mountain, the houses are all made of solid, thick wood, grand and majestic, showcasing the imperial grandeur. Tired from the journey, people sat down on the wooden building next to the Jixiang Temple, enjoying a taste of the tribute tea.
In the midst of the gentle breeze and the fragrant tea, we found a sense of coming home.
The two-day trip came to an end quickly. I won’t forget the simple folk customs and beautiful scenery here. The people here are happy and contented. I hope to come back here again with the writers’ association teachers in the future.
