The beauty of Daocheng can only be experienced by those who have been there, but even just looking at pictures is still so beautiful. Maybe looking at photos reveals the beauty of the scenery, but when you get there, the beauty is more than just the scenery. This can only be understood, not described.
Route
Everyone will gather in Chengdu on the evening of May 26th. We will depart from Chengdu at 9 am on May 27th. On June 3rd, we will return to Chengdu from Daocheng Airport in the morning.
Itinerary Expenses
Departing from Chengdu (May 27th – June 2nd) for a total of seven nights and eight days, the total cost is 4373 yuan/person. Plus 2000 yuan/person for travel photography and planning fees, a total of 6373 yuan/person.
Vehicle fare Chengdu – Daocheng (May 27th – June 2nd) Off-road vehicle fare 2100 yuan/person.
We hired a Mitsubishi off-road vehicle from Wangdui for 1200 yuan/day (May 27th – June 2nd, regardless of the number of kilometers traveled each day). Wangdui’s food and accommodation during the trip was also borne by the four of us. The car is spacious and comfortable, and you won’t feel tired after sitting in it for a day. As an experienced driver, Wangdui drives very steadily, knows the roads well, and arrives at our destination much earlier than when we drove back by ourselves before. The car fare is divided equally among four people, averaging 300 yuan/day. From May 27th to June 2nd, it took seven days to get from Chengdu to Daocheng, a total off-road vehicle fare of 2100 yuan/person.
Accommodation
Chengdu – Daocheng (May 27th – June 2nd) Accommodation cost a total of 977 yuan/person.
This trip included staying in everything from pristine Tibetan homes to high-end boutique hotels. On the evening of May 27th, while in Ruozang, to prevent everyone from catching a cold and to avoid everyone taking a shower, we had everyone stay directly at the home of a Tibetan friend. The next night, to ensure everyone could rest and shower comfortably, we chose to stay at the most characteristic Gongga Zong Manor on the Sichuan-Tibet Highway. We stayed at the best hotel in the Yading Scenic Area, the Zhibai Art Hotel, on the night we were in the scenic area. The rest of the time we stayed in budget-friendly hotels.
Tickets
Because we had Tibetan friends as our guides wherever we went, we saved some ticket fees and they also took us to see many places that are not well-known online but are very beautiful. So along the way, we only spent 270 yuan/person on tickets for the Yading Scenic Area (valid for three days), 80 yuan/person on the scenic area shuttle bus, and 160 yuan/person on horseback riding in Daocheng.
