Xintanyi Town-Sand Pottery Street Itinerary: Pigeon Flower Hotel — Xintanyi Town — Sand Pottery Street
The history of Yingjing sand pottery is long. A large number of pottery pieces from the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods have been unearthed near the Yandao site in Gucheng Village, Liuhe Township. The craftsmanship is exquisite and has high artistic and archaeological value. According to analysis by archaeologists, these pottery pieces are the predecessor of Yingjing sand pottery. It can be inferred that Yingjing sand pottery has a history of more than 2,000 years.
Yingjing sand pots are rustic, resistant to corrosion and acids and bases. Cooking food in them can preserve the nutrients of the food, does not react chemically with food, and the food stored in them is not easily spoiled, keeping the flavor fresh and delicious. When boiling Chinese medicine, it does not affect the efficacy of the medicine, making it very popular among the people. The famous Sichuan dish sand-pot Ya fish uses Yingjing sand pottery. The original, rustic, handcrafted production process gives the pottery delicate, unique, and non-repeating characteristics, and it also has a sense of antique value.
On Sand Pottery Street, we visited the production of intangible cultural heritage sand pottery, experienced the production process, and learned about the wisdom of the ancients.
