Xijiang Thousand Households Miao Village is a characteristic town full of humanistic atmosphere. It retains a large number of Miao-style houses, the Miao beauties here are really breathtaking, and there are many delicacies waiting for you to taste. The shops here are complex, and it is very convenient for tourists to shop. Below is a share of my one-day trip to Xijiang Thousand Households Miao Village.
We always plan to do a lot of things, but in the end we rarely achieve perfection.

We always yearn for the scenery in the distance, but when we get close, we start to covet the road behind us.
We always hope to meet better people, but you’ve already met the best ones.
The most regrettable thing is that, throughout our lives, we are always pursuing what we cannot get.
The lights are dim, my love for you is too blatant.
As the saying goes, if you want to go somewhere, you have to go no matter what, and if you want to see someone, you have to go through mountains and rivers.
During my four years of college, I had planned to visit Xijiang many times. I had also discussed the specific itinerary with my good friends and made an appointment to arrive together.
But in the end, they all fell through for various reasons.
Later on, I would also make an appointment with my good friends to go to some places, but I would always make two plans. One is that my good friends and I would go together, and we would decide on the arrangements. The other is that even if my good friends didn’t go, I would still go alone, so that their changes wouldn’t affect my itinerary.
If I were to go alone, I would feel incredibly relaxed. I wouldn’t have to make a special effort to plan a route, I wouldn’t be afraid of taking a wrong turn, and I wouldn’t be afraid of seeing unsatisfactory scenery or hearing other people’s complaints.
After all, when you’re on the road alone, you’re free to do what you want. No matter where you go, there are no worries. Over time, I’ve become more and more enamored with the feeling of being on the road alone.
The same was true for going to Xijiang. I had originally made an appointment to go with my good friends, but in the end they all didn’t come. So, I set off alone.
By the time I arrived at Kaili Railway Station, it was already past 7 p.m. The buses to Xijiang had already finished their runs. But luckily, there were many private cars at the station entrance that were offering rides to Xijiang.
So, as the night slowly darkened, I got on a private car from Kaili to Xijiang. The feeling was familiar, like the time I took a black car from Kunming to Dali at 1 a.m., and like the time I took a car from Jishou to Fenghuang at 6 a.m.
While I was in the car, I booked a youth hostel called Bed Bar online. The first time I stayed in a youth hostel was in Shenzhen, and I really liked the atmosphere of a group of strangers sitting around chatting. But back then, I stayed in a single room. This time, I thought I could go and experience youth hostel culture more deeply, so I booked a six-bed room.
By the time I reached the entrance of Xijiang, it was almost 9 p.m. As soon as I got off the car, I received a call from Bed Bar asking me when I would be checking in. They were worried that I wouldn’t be safe on the road, so they called to ask. At that moment, I felt very warm-hearted. In a strange place, I received care from strangers.
I took a bus from the entrance of the scenic area to the inside of the scenic area, and then I had to walk for a while to get to Bed Bar. I’m naturally bad at directions, but I’ve been able to travel to so many places alone. I’m really lucky.
The bustling crowd
The manager of Bed Bar gave me directions on WeChat, and finally I sent him a photo. He said I had walked past it and told me not to move, he would come to get me. I refused, saying that he shouldn’t come down yet and that I would take a walk around first.
So I took my camera and walked through the snack street. Suddenly, I was fascinated by the lights of Xijiang.
A city, a lamp
Lighting the way home for the weary traveler
The light you give, whether bright or dim
I was so lost that I finally saw the Bed Bar sign. It was already 11 p.m. at that time.
When I sent him a photo, he anxiously and joyfully replied, “You’re there! You’re there!” The manager of Bed Bar is a young man in his twenties, quite handsome, not much older than me.
When he saw me, he seemed a bit shy and didn’t know what to say for a moment. It was only when I asked him if he needed to register with my ID card that he realized.
I went there in April, and he said it was the off-season for tourism, so there weren’t many people. He said, “I’ll give you a free upgrade from a six-bed room to a four-bed room.” I thanked him and he took me to my room. He said it was a four-bed room, but in the end I was the only one staying there.
Accommodation in Xijiang is generally wooden stilt houses. While they don’t have good sound insulation and you can hear creaking sounds when you walk, they have a nice environment and are clean. Bed Bar is located halfway up the mountain, and my room was on the third floor. I could see the alluring night view of the Miao village from the window.
Wooden loft, wooden bed, a desk in front of the bed, a small lamp by the bedside, a small balcony outside the room, a hammock, a table, a few empty wine bottles.
Everything was to my liking.
I didn’t experience the lively atmosphere of the youth hostel that night. I sat on the balcony for a long time, listening to music, blowing the wind, and spacing out. The manager passed by the balcony while taking guests to their rooms, and he saw me. He came over with a bit of shyness and chatted with me, asking me why I wasn’t going to the top of the mountain to see the night view. I said it was too late and I didn’t want to move, I just wanted to be alone and quiet.
The manager said the sunrise in Xijiang was also very beautiful, and that if I got up early the next morning, I could see the clouds and mist. The next day, I woke up and the sun was already shining into the room. When I went to check out, the manager had already gone out. I left the key with the volunteer sister who was cleaning and left.
I had breakfast at the foot of the mountain and wandered around alone, following the Xijiang River upstream. Many girls wearing Miao costumes were taking photos by the river.
I passed by the farm sightseeing area and saw wisps of smoke rising.
April is the season for sowing.
I sowed my joy here.
I saw half-salted vegetables being dried on the bridge. It felt very familiar. It reminded me of my childhood. Every year at this time, my grandmother would also be fiddling with her half-salted vegetables in the courtyard. I would often sneakily pick some and put them in my mouth to taste.
I followed the crowd and finally found the path up the mountain.
Isn’t this building’s style very unique? This living environment is also quite tempting.
Mountaintop homes
On the way, I met a young man sketching. The sunlight happened to fall on him. Suddenly, I felt that the moment was so beautiful. So I wanted to secretly take a picture. Because I didn’t dare to do it openly, I didn’t capture the effect I wanted. I just pretended to be nonchalant and hurried past.
That day the sun was shining, and I happened to walk past you.
The stray dog by the roadside was sleeping lazily.
The acacia flowers on the mountaintop were in full bloom.
You will understand what it means to have a peaceful life and a secure world.
Choose a city to grow old in, meet someone to spend your life with.
You haven’t come yet, and I haven’t left.
If you blossom, the butterflies will come, this time it’s real butterflies.
The most beautiful Miao girls, yes, although they have the appearance of an aunt, the Miao beauties are still stunning. You can come and have a look.

I have seen mountains, I have seen water, but I have not seen you.
