II. Check-in Details:
First Stop: Fujian Tulou King Scenic Area
“Chun goes and Qiu comes, the crabapple flowers bloom.” Step into the “Big Fish and Begonia” divine enclosure. Every brick and tile here carries the stories and precipitation of history.
Major attractions in the Fujian Tulou King Scenic Area: Fujian Tulou King – Chengqilou, Bo Shi Lou – Qiaofu Lou, Fangyuan Yixiantian, Fanglou – Shizelou, the oldest Tulou – Wuyunlou.
Chengqilou
Chengqilou, with its tall, thick, rugged, majestic architectural style and traditional Chinese courtyard design, blends poetic mountain and countryside charm, leaving countless visitors in awe. “Four stories high, four circles of buildings, four hundred rooms up and down; circles within circles, round after round, three hundred years of vicissitudes.” In 1981, Chengqilou was included in the Chinese Encyclopedia of Famous Scenery, known as the “Tulou King,” competing for brilliance with Chinese famous attractions such as the Temple of Heaven in Beijing and the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang.
Qiaofu Lou
Qiaofu Lou was built in 1962. The combination of Chinese and Western styles makes Qiaofu Lou a representative of the new type of manor and the latest Tulou in the 20th century. The structure of Qiaofu Lou is a single-circle round building, three stories high, with a central courtyard. The bottom floor directly opposite the main entrance has a hall. The building is surrounded by a circle of walls with an outer gate, forming a courtyard. This building is known for having produced 11 doctors, making it also known as the Bo Shi Lou. This is a model of Hakka people encouraging the education of their children and learning from successful predecessors.
Wuyunlou
Wuyunlou is the oldest Tulou, with a history of over 500 years. The Jiang family ancestors started construction during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, and it has weathered the vicissitudes of time. It is also known as the “Unbreakable Tower,” as the walls were built without a stone foundation. In the 1908 earthquake, the walls tilted to one side but did not collapse, a true miracle.
Shizelou
Shizelou was built during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty (1796-1820). The ground at the main entrance is paved with a model of ancient coins made of cobblestones, symbolizing wealth and prosperity. The building has one gate, two wells, three halls, and four stairs, with a rational design that meets the characteristics of family group living.
Second Stop: Fujian Tulou Prince Scenic Area
The Fujian Tulou Prince Scenic Area has over 100 Tulou buildings of various shapes and sizes, each unique. The ancient Tulou, the rugged stone paved paths, the moss-covered banks, the fresh and cool mountain breeze, and the quaint bridges make it feel so peaceful and tranquil, as if stepping into a pastoral scene from ancient poetry.
Major attractions in the Fujian Tulou Prince Scenic Area: “Tulou Prince” – Zhencheng Lou, the smallest Tulou – Rusheng Lou, the mansion-style Tulou – Fuyulou, the palace-style Tulou – Kuiju Lou, the Hakka Family Instruction Museum – Qingcheng Lou.
Zhencheng Lou
Zhencheng Lou is known as the “Oriental Architectural Pearl” and is called the “Most Magnificent Round Building” for its grandiosity and exquisite and diverse interior design. Its partial architectural style and the colors used in the main entrance, interior walls, ancestral hall, and flower walls boldly adopt the principle of diversified unity emphasized in Western architectural aesthetics, achieving a very high level of aesthetic appreciation. It is a masterpiece of Chinese and Western combined rammed earth dwelling architecture.
Rusheng Lou
Rusheng Lou is a miniature Tulou, one of the small and exquisite round Tulou in Yongding. It is a single-circle round building with a circular courtyard inside. The tile surface inside the roof is connected in the shape of a Bagua, while the outer edge is round.
Fuyulou
Fuyulou is an outstanding representative of mansion-style Tulou in Yongding, grand and magnificent. The structure of this building is hierarchical, with clear distinctions between main and secondary parts, blending seamlessly with the sloping mountain behind it, making it even more majestic and imposing. The building looks like three mountains, reflecting the meaning of “three mountains” for the three brothers of the owner.
Kuiju Lou
Kuiju Lou is built against the mountain, surrounded by mountains and water, and has stood firm for 200 years. The Tulou is a palace-style rectangular large Tulou, with a similar atmosphere to the Potala Palace. The carvings, sculptures, and paintings of flowers, birds, figures, landscapes, towers, and stories inside the building are vivid and lively, full of a rich Hakka historical charm.
Qingcheng Lou
The “Hakka Family Instruction Museum” is located in Qingcheng Lou, Hongkeng Village, Hukeng Town, Yongding District, Fujian Province. It was founded in June 2014 and is the first Hakka Family Instruction Museum in China. The museum consists of outdoor atmosphere creation and indoor exhibitions. The exhibition halls are displayed in ten sections: Hakka origin, family instructions and rules, Hakka halls, couplets and plaques, family instruction stories, Hakka private schools, Hakka sayings, and family virtues.
Dinner can choose to taste the delicious food on the tip of the tongue from Yongding’s characteristic beef series.
During the day, admire the unique style of Tulou architecture, while at night, the Tulou buildings are lit with twinkling lights, and a gentle breeze blows. Enjoy the beautiful 3D night view of the Tulou with your family and listen to the stories of the Tulou. The Starry Avenue is filled with fireflies, the magic forest is diverse, and being surrounded by it is like listening to the chirping of birds, the fragrance of flowers attracting butterflies, or the changing of seasons, the falling maple leaves, and the autumn leaves turning red. Various Tulou lanterns are dazzling and brilliant.
The immersive theater “Tianya Mingyue Dao” in Huanxing Lou allows you to travel through time and experience the pleasure and revenge of ancient heroes.
Stay in a unique Tulou at night and fall asleep under the stars. Tulou-style homestays breathe new life and vitality into the Tulou. Immerse yourself in the experience, feel the passage of time, find the most peaceful place in your heart, and enjoy a unique leisure and vacation lifestyle.
Third Stop: Longhu Scenic Area
Longhu has many large and small islands, scattered and interlocked, like pieces of jade falling into the emerald green lake water, winding and twisting, forming a breathtaking landscape of “islands in the lake, lakes in the islands”. It is extremely peaceful here, and taking a walk here makes you feel like the air itself is sweet.
In addition to riding a speedboat in Longhu, you can also experience shark boats, parasailing boats, and other exciting and fun activities. The drift boat, when fully loaded, takes only 10 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 70 kilometers per hour, and the splashing water is a unique romance. After experiencing the beauty of the Longhu mountains and waters, enjoy the local cuisine of Longhu.
