Zhao Gong Mountain will surprise you in all four seasons, from the colorful autumn foliage to the snow-covered winter, the blooming spring flowers to the verdant summer mountains. The Zhao Gong Mountain forest is incredibly beautiful. Every kilometer on this trail is breathtaking. Walking along the health and wellness trail is like stepping into a paradise.

2、Lingyan Mountain

Lingyan Mountain feels like the loft world in Spirited Away, with towering pavilions and terraces scattered across the endless, quiet mountains. Clouds and mist swirl around, and the sound of bells echoes, making it feel like a fairyland. It’s also not crowded, which is perfect for relaxation.

A morning walk on the wooden plank road at the foot of Lingyan Mountain is truly refreshing. Light and shadows stream through the branches and onto the ground. When the wind blows, the branches sway and the light and shadows dance, making the scene incredibly beautiful.

The wooden plank road continues towards the entrance of the Erwang Temple in the Dujiangyan Scenic Area. Turning right will take you up the mountain to the ancient street of Lingyan, about 3 kilometers of uphill hiking, which takes about 50 minutes.

The ancient street above is like a hidden “ageless” street in the mountains. The sun shines down, and as you stroll through the old street, the temperature is neither hot nor stuffy. The occasional cool breeze, adorable puppies, ripe fruits, and tourists taking a break—this is what a “fairy” life in the mountains is all about.

3、Wenmiao Street

Wenmiao Mountain Street stands out among the old streets of Dujiangyan with its vibrant local life. Walking along this old street, you can experience the perfect blend of artistry and everyday life.

The originally tranquil atmosphere of Wenmiao Mountain Street has a strong touch of everyday life. Just like the street art and the red walls of the Confucian Temple complement each other, giving this old street a fresh feel. Wenmiao Mountain Street is truly a “street at the foot of the mountain”.

Many new elements have been added to this old street, such as coffee shops, clothing stores, craft shops, and guesthouses. They don’t disrupt the tranquility of this place.

At the end of Wenmiao Mountain Street, there is a small green path around the corner, where the sunlight shines down beautifully and provides shade. Heading upwards leads you to a hidden gem—the Kui Xing Pavilion.

4、West Street Loop

This hiking route is relatively richer and less challenging, suitable for children and the elderly.

Route: West Street – West Gate – City God Temple – Yuluei Mountain Square – South Street

West Street is less than 400 meters long, flat on top and steep below, less than a zhang wide, and is the starting point of the historical “Songmao Ancient Road”.

Rows of blue-tiled houses unfold along the mountain and the water. The ground is made of stone slabs, and the streets are lined with ancient and elegant houses, full of charm. It retains the relatively complete style of old Chengdu, while creating a strong Sichuan style.

At the end of West Street, you will find an open gate. Going inside, you will see a winding staircase.

Going up the stairs, one end leads to another entrance to the Dujiangyan Scenic Area—the West Gate. Be careful, going up the West Gate requires a scenic area ticket.

The other end leads to the City God Temple. The entire path is shaded by trees and very cool. It has gradually become a favorite spot for people to relax, not only because of the beautiful scenery but also because you can overlook West Street.

Besides the most iconic “mountain-shaped” gate, the large grassy area next to it is also very popular. People practice Tai Chi, have picnics, walk their dogs… When the weather is good, everyone gathers here spontaneously, creating a lively atmosphere.

Continuing up Qingcheng Mountain reveals a different scenery. This is the part where you take the sightseeing bus. The roadsides are mainly lined with Metasequoia trees, making the entire path look ancient, elegant, solemn, and dignified. The 2-kilometer path is surrounded by tall trees.

Looking out, the mountains and waters are covered with lush trees and verdant bamboo. A faint scent of flowers occasionally mingles with the breeze, accompanied by the sound of the creek and birds singing, creating a truly tranquil experience—a place where “the cicadas are quiet in the forest, and the birdsong is even more quiet on the mountain”. Along the way, beautiful scenery unfolds before your eyes. The lush Metasequoia trees stand tall and straight, and the path offers a wonderful place to walk and enjoy the views.
