Nowadays, outdoor barbecue camping is a very happy thing to do. Moreover, there are more and more outdoor activities like this, and many people have joined in. It may be because of the epidemic. However, today, I will introduce to you three places in Changsha where you can camp and barbecue, and you can also fish! The most important thing is that they are all free!
1. Goose Island
Of course, the first place to choose is Goose Island. In the entire Xiangjiang River, Goose Island is one of the few islands that has not been fully developed. It is located at the junction of Changsha and Xiangtan, and you can reach it directly via a bridge from Xiaoxiang Avenue.
Generally, people choose to set up tents and camp around the abandoned old pier. Many people directly drive their SUVs onto the grass or park them by the river.
This area of Goose Island has a beach near the old pier. Although it is not very big, and not as beautiful as the Meixi Lake white sand beach, it is still a place where many children like to play. The most important thing is that in the summer, some parents take their children to swim here when they camp. However, I don’t recommend doing this because this place is after all the Xiangjiang River, and it used to be a pier, so the water is still quite deep and very dangerous.
Although there are some trees here, they are very scarce. Everyone finds a place on the grass, then sets up a tent, pulls out a barbecue grill, and then starts grilling outdoors. Of course, last time we didn’t bring a barbecue grill, so we just used charcoal in an earthen pit, piled up with stones, and completed an outdoor barbecue.
2. Chaiting Reservoir
Chaiting Reservoir is located in Chaiting Town, Wangcheng District, Changsha. There are many places to camp here, you can choose to camp near the Xizi Pagoda, or you can choose to camp by the reservoir. It’s completely countryside, and if it’s March or April, there are fields of rapeseed flowers to admire.
If you camp next to the Xizi Pagoda, there are dense trees to block the sun, so you don’t have to worry about getting sunburned. But if you go to the edge of the reservoir, you need to be prepared for sun protection.
3. Fengmeiling Reservoir
Located in Beishan Town, Changsha County, the reservoir is not very large, but surrounded by mountains, it is very quiet and beautiful. Many outdoor clubs have chosen to hold activities here.
However, there is one thing you need to pay attention to. Although the road is basically paved with cement all the way, there is a section of road leading to the reservoir that is not very easy to drive. So everyone should try to drive an SUV to get there.
Of course, there are actually quite a few free camping places in Changsha. However, I would like to emphasize here that camping in the wild is a very good way of leisure and entertainment, but while camping, don’t leave any trash behind!
