Strange Rock Garden
Millions of years ago, Flower and Fruit Mountain underwent a major tectonic movement, causing many mountain peaks to collapse and boulders to roll down the mountainside. After being tempered by the sun, rain, and snow, they finally formed many strange rocks. What is amazing is that many of these strange rocks can be magically linked to “Journey to the West”. For example, the monkey who was slapped three times on the head when he apprenticed, the Buddha’s hand that pressed down on the Monkey King, the four Buddhist images who tested Zen through transformation, the thousand-year-old tortoise who crossed the Heavenly River, and the howling heavenly dog, mountain tiger, white bone spirit, moon-worshipping rabbit, and so on.
