Underwater World is located on the west side of the First Bathing Beach. It is a themed venue that showcases the underwater environment and marine life. First, in the Dreamlike Jellyfish Palace, you will see thousands of jellyfish vying for beauty under the light. Then you can go to the Seal Pavilion to see the cute seals, sea lions and penguins. You can also see various marine biological specimens such as sperm whales, swordfish and sea turtles in the Marine Specimen Museum, which has a rich collection in China.
Next, the “Underwater World” hall, which is entirely built underground, will give you an all-round underwater visual experience. You can stroll through the fully transparent underwater tunnel, feel the fish swimming around you, or look at the clownfish and other tropical fish swimming around the coral through the cylindrical display tanks.
The live underwater performances in the Marine Theater are very popular. You can enjoy the thrilling “Man and Shark Dance”, the beautiful and dreamy “Mermaid” performance, and sometimes you can see humorous sketches performed by divers underwater.
After learning about marine life, you can finally visit the Freshwater Biological Museum to see giant arapaima, Chinese sturgeon, and Chinese giant salamander, these rare freshwater creatures, to see the charm of these “living fossils”.
There are many exhibition halls in Qingdao Underwater World. The tour route is one-way and you cannot go back. Enter from the south entrance of Laiyang Road and exit from the north entrance of Laiyang Road. The tour order is: Dreamlike Jellyfish Palace – Seal Pavilion – Marine Biological Specimen Museum – Underwater World – Freshwater Biological Museum.
