The summer heat is always unbearable, and Guizhou, as a summer resort, has many summer resorts and travel experiences. Let’s learn more about the details of the best 3-day self-driving tour in Guizhou.
DAY1 Guiyang—Tianhetan—Qianyan—Huaxi Park
After lunch, drive about 1 hour to visit Tianhetan Scenic Area. Drive 1 hour to visit the Qianyan Ancient Town (about 2 hours of sightseeing), which has a history of more than 600 years. The town is well-preserved from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Visit Zhao Yijiong’s Mansion (the first Wenke Juren in Guizhou). Drive for half an hour to visit Huaxi Park (about 0.5 hours of sightseeing), which gathers the footprints of historical celebrities. Huaxi Park integrates real mountains and waters, pastoral scenery, and ethnic customs, and is known as the “Pearl of the Plateau”. Observe the world’s first Love River – Huaxi River. The river flows through mountains and cliffs, over bridges and against walls, forming many small rapids, small waterfalls, small lakes and ponds, and small river beaches. Along the banks of the stream, some ingeniously crafted pavilions, terraces, steps and flying bridges, guesthouses and villas are scattered in a harmonious way, adding a charming touch to the beautiful scenery of mountains surrounding water, terraced ponds, and ten miles of river beaches.
Tianhetan combines the magnificence of Huangguoshu Waterfall, the wonder of Longgong, and the beauty of Huaxi, integrating waterfalls, clear springs, deep pools, strange rocks, strange caves, and natural stone bridges into one, a perfect natural creation; farmhouses with waterwheels, small bridges and flowing water, full of wild charm, quiet and pleasant.
Qianyan Ancient Town has a long history and is a cultural center with a strong cultural atmosphere. It was named after the many blue rock peaks nearby, and it was once a place for garrisoning troops and farming.
Huaxi Park is a famous tourist destination in Guizhou. It integrates real mountains and waters, pastoral scenery, and ethnic customs, and is one of the three “pearls of the plateau” in Guizhou.
DAY2 Guiyang—Xifeng Concentration Camp—Zunyi Conference Site

The Xifeng Concentration Camp was the largest secret prison for CCP members and patriotic progressives established by the Kuomintang during the War of Resistance Against Japan, adhering to the reactionary policy of “negative resistance to Japan and active anti-communism”. It was one of the four major concentration camps established by the Kuomintang during the War of Resistance Against Japan, along with Baigongguan in Chongqing, Zhazidong Concentration Camp, and Shangrao Concentration Camp in Jiangxi.
The Zunyi Conference Site was originally the private residence of Bai Huizhang, the commander of the 2nd Division of the 25th Army of the Kuomintang. This two-story building, built in the early 1930s, with a brick and wood structure and a blend of Chinese and Western styles, was the most magnificent building in Zunyi City at that time. It has high walls and a heavy gate, towering and majestic.
DAY3 Anshun—Longgong—Tianxingqiao—Huangguoshu
Depart from Guiyang, drive for about 2.5 hours to Longgong (about 1.5 hours of sightseeing), and take a boat to tour the central scenic area; after lunch, enter the Huangguoshu Scenic Area, where you can take the scenic area’s environmental protection vehicle. If Huangguoshu Waterfall is characterized by its magnificence, the Tianxingqiao area is exquisite and beautiful. The couplet “Wind knives and water swords carve out thousands of acres of bonsai, root brushes and vine inks paint a thousand years of masterpieces” summarizes the charm of the Tianxingqiao Scenic Area. There are three connected areas here, namely the Tianxing Basin Scenic Area, the Tianxing Cave Scenic Area, and the Water Stone Forest Area.
Huangguoshu Waterfall enjoys the reputation of “China’s First Waterfall”, and is the third largest waterfall in the world after Niagara Falls and Victoria Falls. It is a national 5A-level scenic spot.
