Spain is a constitutional monarchy, officially known as the Kingdom of Spain. With its rugged mountains, it is also one of the world’s largest car manufacturers. Now, with the tourism industry becoming more and more developed, we are no longer limited to traveling within our country. The world is so big, we all want to see it. Spain is a great choice. So how should you travel in Spain? Below, I will share with you the story of my trip to Spain.
When it comes to Spain, most people think of bullfighting, or passionate Spanish women dancing a cheerful tango, or the Spanish football team, but maybe some people, like me, think of a person when it comes to Spain. This person is not very famous, but if you mention the writer San Mao, you will know him. He is Jose. Jose is San Mao’s husband. In the seventh year after their marriage, Jose died in an accident while diving in the sea he loved. I think many people, like me, may like a city or country because of someone. Before I knew Jose, I must have heard of Spain, but after reading San Mao’s story in the book, I had a different feeling for Spain. Before deciding to go to Spain, I didn’t really do much preparation or research. I just wanted to see it, walk around, and feel it. I booked my accommodation two days before departure. It was a small room in one of the white apartments nestled at the foot of the mountain. When I arrived, I realized it was very close to the road, a little noisy at night. So the next day, my friend and I switched hotels.
Spanish people are indeed as enthusiastic as people say. I was afraid that the apartment staff would be dissatisfied because I was checking out, but the enthusiastic young lady recommended other good value-for-money hotels after I checked out. In the end, I chose a high-end hotel. Although it was a little more expensive than the small apartment, it was within my budget.
Before I went to Spain, a friend asked me if I was going to see where San Mao and Jose used to live, if I was going to visit his grave, if I was going to explore anything about him. I said I wouldn’t. I know their story, it was once, it’s good. I have a little admiration for San Mao and Jose. San Mao’s talent, background, experience, family, marriage, suicide, etc., these things make most people curious, but I prefer San Mao’s words, her true character, her life experiences in different countries, and her pure love with Jose. At that time, I also always thought that there would be a bearded foreigner who would love me and love me deeply like Jose loved San Mao. In Spain, a land half sea and half desert, I spent most of my time wandering around the city. Every street was decorated with small flowers I didn’t know, basking in the hot summer sun.
One day at sea, I stood on the deck letting the sea breeze blow through my long hair. The wind carried the salty taste of the sea. Looking at the endless sea, I was thinking that San Mao and Jose must also be on the boat, Jose’s arm around San Mao’s chest, his hand gently holding her shoulder, the other arm around her waist. The two of them were enjoying the sunset and dreaming of the future in murmurs. Love always lets you know what sweetness is.
When I landed, I saw two pigeons together, like a couple, whispering sweet nothings. May they be the reincarnation of San Mao and Jose, carrying on their unfinished love.
