Recommended Hiking Routes in Dujiangyan in Autumn

When traveling to Chengdu in autumn, you must not miss the beautiful scenery of Dujiangyan. Go to the ancient trails, the banks of Yangliu Lake, and the rural amusement park… to experience the stunning autumn scenery. The crisp autumn weather is also perfect for hiking, and below we recommend several free hiking routes.

1、Route One

Experience the Sichuan Style

「 West Street – West Gate – City God Temple – Yuluei Mountain Square – South Street 」

West Street is less than 400 meters long, flat at the top and steep at the bottom, and less than a zhang wide. It is the starting point of the historical “Songmao Ancient Road”. The blue tile houses are spread out along the mountain and water. The ground is paved with stone, and the streets are lined with antique houses, full of charm. It retains the relatively complete old Chengdu style and creates a strong Sichuan style.

Unlike the hustle and bustle of the past, there is more excitement and comfort. At the end of West Street, you will find an open gate. After entering, there is a short winding staircase.

Walk up the stairs, one end leads to another entrance to the Dujiangyan Scenic Area – West Gate. Note that you need to pay a scenic area ticket to go up from West Gate~

The other end leads to the City God Temple. The whole way is shaded by trees, very cool. It has gradually become a favorite place for people to “take a break”. Not only is the scenery beautiful, but you can also overlook West Street~

The leisurely stroll, the long road, the lush greenery, all very pleasant and beautiful!

When you reach the City God Temple, you can clearly see that the entire hall is hidden in verdant woods, hall after hall, with red walls and blue tiles, exuding its unique charm.

Down from the City God Temple, you come to Yuluei Mountain Square, which is also a good place to check in. The open square allows children to play freely.

2、Route Two

Explore the Oxygen-rich Trails

「 Qingcheng Mountain New Entrance – Qingcheng Mountain Hiking Trail – Jianfu Palace 」

The Qingcheng Mountain wooden plank road is a very beautiful hiking trail. It starts at the new entrance of Qingcheng Mountain, and both sides of the road are lined with ginkgo trees. It is the most romantic in autumn~

Besides the most representative “mountain-shaped” gate, the large lawn next to it is also very popular, with people practicing Tai Chi, having picnics, walking their dogs… and our silk scarf ladies. On sunny days, everyone will gather here without fail, making it very lively.

Continuing up Qingcheng Mountain, it is another scene. It is the part where you take the sightseeing bus, and the roadsides are mostly dominated by metasequoia trees. The entire tree is like a pagoda, simple and elegant, solemn and majestic, surrounding the 2 km long road.

Along the way, there are beautiful views everywhere. The lush and verdant metasequoia trees are straight and shady, and you can stop along the way to admire the beautiful scenery~

As you go up, you will reach Jianfu Palace. Jianfu Palace houses the god of wealth, Fan Li, and the back hall hides the longest couplet in the history of Qingcheng Mountain.

If you want to take a break, I recommend that you order a cup of tea and sit down in the teahouse next to the stone steps of Jianfu Palace. Take your time and stay for a day~

3、Route Three

Relax and Have Fun

「 Lingyan Road – Lingyan Ancient Street – Lingyan Academy 」

The Lingyan Mountain in autumn has a unique charm. The old, deep and vigorous forest expresses autumn to the fullest. The road up Lingyan Mountain has been renovated, making hiking super convenient~ The road winds and circles around Lingyan Mountain, like an ink-colored ribbon inlaid in this tranquil green.

Lingyan Mountain is like the attic world of Spirited Away, with pavilions and buildings scattered around, the boundless and quiet mountains, shrouded in clouds and mist, with bells ringing, like a fairyland on earth. There are few people, perfect for relaxation~

At the end of the ancient road, on the top of the mountain, you can overlook the Dujiangyan water conservancy project and the cityscape, magnificent~

Walking to the other side from the top of the mountain, you can reach Lingyan Academy, where you can visit and have tea at Lingyan Mountain Academy~

From the back door of Lingyan Academy, you enter Lingyan Temple. The Lingyan Temple Qi Gathering Field is a natural forest with soft, bluish-green colors. Take a deep breath of the air with a high level of negative ions, and you are sure to feel refreshed. In late autumn and early winter, the ginkgo trees here are all yellow, creating another poetic scene~

4、Route Four

Quiet and Leisurely

「 Yihu Lake – Rainbow Bridge – Dujiangyan Library – Puyang River Greenway 」

There is a place that allows you to experience the slow pace of life in Dujiangyan most directly, whether you live there or visit it in your free time. This is – District 1.

Yihu Lake is the favorite place for local people to hang out after tea and dinner. The people of Dujiangyan “love water”, and thus there is the 690-meter long Yi River and the 66-acre Yihu Lake. Puyang River and Yi River are like two arms embracing District 1.

Walk along the flat boardwalk, looking at the clear, green lake water, the lake surface is calm, willows are drooping by the lake, the lake breeze is refreshing, and the branches sway with the wind.

Next to it, you can also see the “Dujiangyan City Library”. It has been renovated with modern design concepts and elements, and the reconstructed Haipai building has both historical accumulation and modern charm.

In early autumn, with the temperature just right, you can encounter a rare sense of comfort here~

Rainbow Bridge is a must-see. With blue sky, white clouds, and blue water, a red bridge spans the lake. Every angle here can produce beautiful photos.

5、Route Five

Rural Countryside Tour

After visiting the Seven-Mile Poetry Village, you can also go to Liu Feng Island Primitive Tribe Adventure Forest to play. It is a parent-child play and growth base, a primitive tribe theme park. There are clown interactive revelry, pink beach, pet interaction, happy trampoline, multiplayer seesaw and other projects that will keep children glued to their seats.
