When it comes to traveling in Beijing, there are not only the famous attractions known both at home and abroad, such as Tiananmen Square and the Great Wall, but also a place called Xiangshan Mountain in the suburbs, which is actually not quiet, because Beijing is always crowded, no matter when. In ancient times, Xiangshan Mountain was called Xinghua Mountain. Every time the flowers bloomed, Xiangshan Mountain really lived up to its name. If you ask me if Xiangshan Mountain is fun, I would say yes, it is fun! If you ask me how to play in Xiangshan Mountain, then keep reading!
It’s almost the end of October, the frost has passed, and the air is filled with the chill of winter.
In order not to be late, the sky was still dim when I left the dormitory. On the way, it was quiet, and only our low voices could be heard in the air.
The breath we exhaled condensed in the air, making me feel that winter was truly approaching.
We waited in the car for a long time, and although I was so sleepy that my eyelids were fighting, I couldn’t sleep because of the unbridled conversations around me. Later, I learned that the reason why the bus hadn’t left was because we were waiting for someone who was late.
I heard someone complaining, saying that the whole car was waiting for her alone, and she had no sense of time at all.
On the way to Beijing, we went through security checks twice. Actually, I don’t like Beijing. I always feel it’s troublesome, and I have to go through security checks several times every time.
I said it out loud without any hesitation.
When we actually arrived at Xiangshan Mountain, the sky had already brightened. There were people coming and going on the road.
Beijing never has a low season, it’s so crowded that it’s difficult to move.
The beautiful natural scenery was surrounded by crowds.
The first thing that caught my eye was the branches that were being swayed to the point of collapse by tourists.
For the sake of taking pictures, children climbed up to every tree branch they could stand on, while their parents were in the distance, pressing the shutter button on their cameras.
I guess this is what they call “the fault of the father, not the son.”
Some tourists also vigorously shook the tree trunks just to create a rain of maple leaves.
As one of the army of tourists, I don’t know what to say.
My phone is too bad, don’t mind the tourists besides the various unpleasant “burning the lute and boiling the crane.”
The journey was also beautiful.
All the way admiring the scenery and climbing the mountain, this is probably the highest mountain I have ever climbed completely (up and down) so far, maybe there is one, but I forgot.
I love traveling, but I don’t love climbing mountains.
So I probably won’t have the heroic sentiment of “Looking down at all mountains from the top of the world.”
On the winding road, I didn’t see many maple leaves at first. There were red leaves, but not many.
I couldn’t help but feel a little bit discouraged.
Later, when I was two-thirds of the way up the mountain, I looked out in the distance and felt it was worth the trip. Large areas of red were interspersed, with the momentum of “Ten thousand mountains turn red, all the forests are dyed.”
Xiangshan Mountain has three main attractions, which are said to be maple, pine, and yellow flowers.
But I think the ginkgo trees are also quite beautiful. That golden yellow under the sun’s dye makes one’s heart full of the warmth of sunshine.
This warmth comes so unexpectedly in this cold autumn, and it makes people linger.
Actually, I went to Xiangshan Mountain mainly to see the maple leaves, but most of the maple leaves hadn’t turned red yet.
Later, I realized that “Frost leaves are redder than February flowers” is probably a bit early.
I searched on Baidu and learned that maple leaves will only turn red after frost.
Among some historical relics, I paid more attention to the “Qinzhen Hall” and the “Cuiwei Pavilion.”
When I saw the Cuiwei Pavilion, I was really surprised.
I vaguely remember seeing it in some book, but in my memory, the Cuiwei Pavilion shouldn’t be in Beijing.
After coming back and checking the information, I suddenly realized that there are more than one Cuiwei Pavilion.
And the Cuiwei Pavilion I saw was named in memory of Yue Fei. This Cuiwei is not that Cuiwei.
There are many ancient buildings in the park, and there are also historical events of modern celebrities. I have seen ancient buildings more than once.
But this is the first time I have observed those elaborately carved roofs so closely.
Every intricate detail of the patterns showcases the architectural level of ancient China.
But I still think the ancients were too extravagant. When we descended the mountain, I originally wanted to take the cable car, but because of my fear of heights, I walked down instead.
My legs were already sore and weak, and I felt like I was going to roll down the mountain with every step.
It wasn’t until later that I learned that the cable car at Xiangshan Mountain wasn’t enclosed that I felt my decision to walk down was indeed wise, otherwise, I might have been scared to death.
After leaving Xiangshan Park, there were many delicacies along the way, with various cries of vendors filling the air. As for how to find delicious food, it depends on yourself. Among them, I like a small snack called bamboo leaf cake. It looks good and tastes good.
I passed by a musical instrument store, and the shopkeeper happened to be playing a Xun, the sound was sad.
It was too different from the cheerful hand drums in the streets and alleys of Lijiang.
Of all the places I’ve been to, most of them sell Xun, but this is the first time I want to buy one to take home.
Even though I have zero musical talent and will probably never learn to play it.
But I still want to learn this ancient musical instrument.
Read ten thousand volumes, travel ten thousand miles.
Reading and traveling are both my hobbies, but even so, they are not of much use.
I think Dong Qichang’s original intention was that you have to see more to paint with feeling.
Whether traveling or reading, it’s not enough to just skim the surface.
Only by reading or traveling with a thoughtful approach can the two surpass their original meaning.
So, if you ask me if Xiangshan Mountain is fun, I would say, it is.
