There are countless beaches all over the world, some of them still undiscovered. But today, I want to introduce you to some beaches that have one thing in common: they are incredibly beautiful, but very few tourists visit them. This means you can avoid the crowds and enjoy your beach trip in peace.
The southern coast of Portugal is lined with beautiful beaches, and Dona Ana is a shining gem among them.
Unlike most beaches, it’s surrounded by cliffs of various shapes and colours, eroded by the sea over the years. Aside from the blue waters and golden sand, you can also admire the peculiar rocks, making it a true wonder of the world.
It’s less than a kilometre from the centre of Lagos, so you can easily walk there from your hotel.
Zipolite Beach, Oaxaca City, Mexico
This beach is located in Oaxaca City, southern Mexico, and is popular with nudists, yoga enthusiasts and old-school hippies because of its seclusion and low prices.
It’s also where the Mexican classic film “The Lost Boys” was filmed, with the three main characters playing and saying goodbye to each other on the beach at the end.
Here, you can grill freshly caught fish and drink fresh coconut juice. Swimming is definitely an option, just be careful of the undercurrents.
Navagio Beach, Greece
Located on the Greek island of Zakynthos, it’s named after a ship that ran aground here in 1980. The old ship still sits on the beach. Navagio Beach is dubbed “the most beautiful beach in the world” by the Greeks. Of course, everyone thinks their own place is the best, but take a look at the pictures, they have a point.
It’s worth mentioning that this is also the location where the Korean drama series “Descendants of the Sun” was filmed. It looks familiar, right? It’s really unique.
The Greek economy is struggling, so the tourism industry has been affected as well. That’s why Navagio Beach doesn’t get many tourists. Visiting in the off-season is best, with low prices and fewer tourists.
Bathsheba Beach, Barbados
Located on the east coast of the Caribbean island of Barbados, Bathsheba is a small fishing village with affordable seafood and scenic views. Its landmark is the towering rock formations.
But that’s not the main point. The main point is that it has the best waves in the entire Caribbean. The waves are big, long, and strong, with three surf spots. If you are fast and know how to observe the waves, you can surf across all three spots in one go.
As a paradise for surfers around the world, large surfing competitions are held here every year. If you are interested in this sport, don’t miss Bathsheba.
New Chum Beach, New Zealand
New Chum Beach is hidden away on the northeast coast of New Zealand’s Coromandel Peninsula, and boasts a pristine white sand beach that stretches for a full kilometre.
It’s surrounded by pristine forest, without any buildings or human structures. Everything you see is untouched wilderness.
As one of the few beaches in New Zealand that hasn’t been developed for tourism, it’s perfect for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of life and relax.
Railay Beach, Thailand
Railay Beach is a small peninsula located south of Krabi City.
The small peninsula consists of four beaches, none of which are a bad choice. You can enjoy them all and switch between them.
Because it’s often listed as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world by various travel rankings, don’t expect it to be deserted. After all, where in Thailand can you find a truly deserted beach?
However, if you visit during off-season, you will find a beautiful and quiet beach. The island has full amenities, including first-rate hotels.
If you love rock climbing, don’t miss this. It’s full of steep limestone cliffs with numerous caves, making it a favourite destination for rock climbing enthusiasts.
Dry Tortugas National Park, Florida, USA
There are many beaches in the USA, but this one is probably the most recommended.
Dry Tortugas can only be reached by ferry. Fort Jefferson, in the centre of the island, is a massive unfinished fort and the largest brick building in the Western Hemisphere.
Sea turtles and seabirds outnumber people on the island. The sand is fine and white, like flour poured onto the ground. Combined with the red walls and blue waters, it’s unbelievably beautiful.
It’s a great place for snorkelling, with crystal-clear water allowing you to easily see the colourful fish and coral reefs.
The most important point is that it’s usually deserted, isolated and peaceful. As a national park, the environment is very well-protected. It’s a wonderland worth cherishing.
【Beach Travel Essentials】
1. Change of clothes: Bring quick-drying clothes because you are bound to get them wet while playing at the beach. It’s best to bring a spare long-sleeved shirt, as the sea breeze can be strong at night. For convenience when playing on the beach or in the water, please bring (tent, flashlight) towels, dry hair caps, swimwear, shorts, goggles, and floaties. Don’t forget the pump.
2.
Shoes: A pair of trainers or sandals, a pair of sandals or flip-flops. Make sure the sandals or flip-flops are waterproof and slip-resistant. Flat ones are best. Flip-flops are more comfortable for walking on the beach.
3.
Sun protection: Don’t forget sunscreen, sunglasses, and an umbrella. The sun at the beach is very strong.
4. Daily necessities: French PG cream, face wash, shower gel, shampoo, soap, towel, toothpaste, toothbrush, comb.
5.
Medication: You can’t resist eating seafood at the beach, so be sure to bring diarrhoea medicine and allergy medication in case you feel unwell after eating seafood. Also bring mosquito repellent, mentholatum and band-aids, and preferably electric mosquito repellent.
【Beach Trip Safety Tips】
1. Before going into the water, remember to do some light exercises, drink some water and have a snack. Don’t eat too much, eight parts full is enough, otherwise you’ll feel uncomfortable in the water.
2. Doing light exercises before entering the water is to prevent muscle cramps in the water.
3. Those who are not good swimmers should avoid going too far into the water and it’s safer to stay with everyone else.
4. Don’t play too much in the water to prevent choking on water. If things are swept away by the current and you can’t catch up, don’t chase them to avoid being swept away by the undercurrent!
5.
The sun at the beach is not like the sun on a normal day, so remember not to be exposed to the sun for long periods. It’s advisable to wear an extra layer of clothing when not swimming. It’s recommended to wear a baseball cap whether you are swimming or not to prevent sunburns.
6. It’s best not to drink alcohol at the beach. Don’t go into the water after drinking alcohol.
7. Water in your ears should be drained immediately (Tilt your head down, tilt your ear, and use your fist to strike your head and ear several times until the water flows out).
8. Don’t rub your body after swimming, just wash with shower gel. The skin is at its weakest at this time and can easily break if you are not careful.
