3、Scenic Spot Introduction

Yandang Mountain mainly has eight scenic areas: Lingfeng, Lingyan, Dalongqiu, Sanzhepu, Yanhu, Xian Shengmen, Yangjiao Dong, and Xianqiao. There are more than 500 scenic spots. It is famous at home and abroad for its unique strange peaks and rocks, flying waterfalls and springs, ancient caves and holes, magnificent peaks and gates, and verdant green pools, and is known as “the famous mountain at sea, the best in the world”, historically known as “the first mountain in the southeast”.

Among them, Lingfeng, Lingyan, and Dalongqiu are known as the “Three Wonders of Yandang Mountain”. The night view of Lingfeng and the flying performance of Lingyan are two of its special landscapes. Because there is a lake on the top of the mountain, with dense reeds, the reeds are used as a net, and the geese returning south often stay here, hence the name Yandang Mountain.

The “Three Wonders of Yandang Mountain” (Lingfeng, Lingyan, and Dalongqiu), Lingyan is one of them, and people regard it as the “Bright Court” of Yandang Mountain. Li Xiaoguang, a writer in the Yuan Dynasty, said: “Sharp and beautiful, nothing is better than Lingfeng; strong and huge, nothing is better than Lingyan.” This accurately reflects the difference in aesthetic style between “Erlings”. With Lingyan Ancient Temple as the center, there is the colorful Pingxia Gorge in the back, and the two cliffs of Tianzhu and Zhanqi on the left and right face each other, standing thousands of feet high. It is solemn because of its “bigness”, and when people are in it, they immediately feel that all their worries have disappeared.

The main attractions in the scenic area are: Lingyan Temple, Lingyan Flying Performance, Xiaolongqiu, Longbizong, Tianchuang Cave, Wolong Valley.

Dalongqiu is located in the west of Ma’anling in Yandang Mountain, anciently known as Xinei Valley. It is a famous waterfall in China and is known as “the No. 1 Waterfall in the World”. It is 28 kilometers wide from east to west and 7.5 kilometers long from north to south, covering an area of 28 square kilometers. The water falls from the Lianyun Gorge, about 190 meters high, like a white silk hanging high. Under the impact of the waterfall, the water in the pool makes a thunderous roar. Under the sunlight, countless rainbows are reflected.

Xianshengmen is a “stone gate” formed by two cliffs facing each other, also known as “Xianshengmen”. This gate is about 200 meters high, only 10 meters apart from each other, and the two walls stand upright, reaching straight to the sky, magnificent and majestic, known as “the No. 1 Gate in the World”, which is the crown of the “gates” in Yandang Mountain. Inside the gate, four cliffs enclose each other, guarding each other; the stream gurgles at the foot, the environment is extremely secluded; looking up, the top is covered, leaving only a line of light, “not at noon or night, the sun and moon cannot be seen”.

Yangjiaodong Scenic Area is a branch of Yandang Mountain that slants out. Before it was incorporated into Yandang Mountain, it was known to the world by its own name – Fangshan, and it also had its own founder. The founder was a Taoist priest. Its series of cave culture education and other buildings are therefore full of Taoist and witchcraft atmosphere, and it is the most Chinese folk religious culture-colored place among the eight scenic spots in Yandang Mountain. This scenic spot consists of two parts: Yangjiaodong and Shuanglong Valley.
