1、Dawukou
Dawukou District is located in northern Ningxia. It is an old industrial city established in June 1973 because of coal and industrial development. It is the location of the Party and government organs of Shizuishan City, the industrial center of Ningxia. Dawukou District is the political, economic, cultural, information and commercial center of Shizuishan City, as well as the regional center of the Ningxia-Inner Mongolia border.
Shahu, one of the top 35 tourist attractions in the country and a national 5A-level tourist attraction, is only 10 kilometers from the city center. Beiwudang Eco-tourism Zone, a national example of human settlement environment award, is an autonomous region AA-level tourist attraction integrating sightseeing, leisure and entertainment, health and fitness, scientific expedition and exploration, and religious pilgrimage.
2、Shapotou
Shapotou is located about 20 kilometers west of Zhongwei city. Within the scenic area, on one side is the boundless Tengger Desert, and on the other side is the endless Yellow River. Tang Dynasty poet Wang Wei’s famous line “Straight smoke from the desert, round sun setting over the river” describes this place.
Here, you can go to the largest natural sand-sliding field in China. From the 100-meter sand slope, you can slide down smoothly, and the rumbling sound of the sand when you slide down is like a long bell ringing. You can also take a ride on an ancient means of transportation – the sheepskin raft, and cruise on the Yellow River. If you are brave enough, go play on the zipline that spans the Yellow River and experience the thrill of flying over the Yellow River.
3、Western Xia Tombs
The Western Xia Tombs (also known as the Tombs of the Western Xia Dynasty) are located at the foot of the Helan Mountains in the western suburbs of Yinchuan City. They are the royal tombs of the Western Xia Dynasty and house the remains of many emperors of the Western Xia Dynasty. Now the entire tomb area has 9 imperial tombs and more than 140 accompanying tombs, making it one of the largest royal tombs in Chinese history.
The shape of the tombs is different from other Chinese tombs, resembling an inverted bun, and is known as the “Oriental Pyramid”. In addition, the scenic area also has the Western Xia Museum, the Western Xia History and Art Museum, the Western Xia Stele Forest and other facilities, helping tourists understand the historical and cultural background behind the tombs.
4、Shahu Scenic Area
Shahu is located about 50 kilometers northwest of Yinchuan City, in Pingluo County, and is an ecological tourist attraction that integrates the water towns of Jiangnan with the scenery of the desert. The Shahu Scenic Area consists of the lake area to the north and the desert area to the south. The desert area is bordered by the lake on one side and an artificial canal on the other, with no connection to the land. You must purchase a boat ticket to get to the desert area.
In the lake area, you can see sparkling lake water, red lotus gardens with green lining, and clusters of emerald green reeds, a picture of the water town of Jiangnan. When you take a boat to the desert area in the south of the scenic area, what greets you is a dazzling golden sand dune, displaying the magnificent scenery of the northern desert.
5、Yinchuan Suyukou Ski Resort
Yinchuan Suyukou Ski Resort is located within the national AAAA-level scenic area of Suyukou Forest Park, surrounded by mountains on all sides, with babbling springs and beautiful scenery. It is the largest professional alpine ski resort in the northwest. The ski area is located in the mid-temperate zone, with granular snow, making it the most ideal alpine ski resort in Ningxia.
The resort covers a total area of 250,000 square meters, of which the ski slope area is over 120,000 square meters. It has two ski slopes for beginners and advanced skiers (beginner slope is 420 meters long, advanced slope is 350 meters long), equipped with 3 dedicated ski slope towing equipment, with over 1,500 pairs of famous brand ski equipment, and can accommodate 1,500 people at the same time for snow activities.
6、Yuhuang Pavilion
The platform of Yuhuang Pavilion is divided into 4 levels, gradually rising from south to north, with the highest building, Sanmu Dian, being 26.2 meters above the ground. Inside are the City God Temple, Guanyin Temple, Niangniang Temple, Sanqing Temple, Wuliang Temple, Dongbin Temple, Sanguan Temple, Sanmu Temple, as well as Wenchang Pavilion, Guan Di Pavilion, Bell Tower and Drum Tower, as well as many supporting facilities to serve tourists.
