It was famous as early as the Qin and Han dynasties. Confucius, Mencius, Qin Shi Huang, Li Si, Li Bai, Du Fu, Su Shi, Wang Anshi, Ouyang Xiu, and others have all climbed and admired the scenery. The more than 300 famous cliff inscriptions and steles they left on Mount Yì add a unique historical and cultural brilliance to the mountain.

Liangshan Mountain is the birthplace of the story in the classic Chinese novel *Water Margin*. The story of the Liangshan heroes has been passed down through the ages.

The mountain has 33 families and 146 species of trees, creating a unique “natural oxygen bar” for Shimen Mountain.
