2. Scenic Spot Introduction
Fulong Lake covers an area of 30,000 mu (approximately 2,000 acres). The landmark buildings, the Water Conference Center and the Ecological Viewing Island, are embraced by the blue water. Reeds and cattails grow in rows, lotus leaves sway gently, and cranes, storks, and wild ducks compete to forage and build nests. On the south side of the lake is Lijian, where Laozi once lived. Legend has it that Laozi rode his ox through Lijian, on the edge of the Mengzhu Ze in Danfu, and saw that the surrounding area was serene, simple, vast and misty, shaded but sun-drenched, with a harmonious balance of yin and yang. He settled here. Today, most of the houses in Lijian are still made of mud bricks, with occasional ruins, exuding the desolation and tranquility of an ancient village. Looking out at the calm waters of Fulong Lake, one can almost hear Laozi’s teachings of “the best way to do is to be like water”.

Fulong Lake is the site of Mengzhu Ze, one of the four famous lakes in China. Many historical figures have left behind poems and relics here. Fulong Lake is also an important wintering, resting, and breeding ground for migratory birds. The lake is rich in carp, crucian carp, lake shrimp, lake crab, geese and ducks, lotus root, lotus seeds, cattail, reeds, etc. The lakeside is rich in Qing Shan sheep, Xiaowei Han sheep, Lu Xi Yellow cattle, firewood chickens, Luhua chickens, black chickens, chicken and duck eggs, roses, and miscellaneous fruits. The rich local products have created a unique Fulong Lake culinary culture.
The Water Conference Center, Fulong Square, pier, Ecological Island, Hanxian Tea House, Laojun Temple, South Bank Ring Dike Ecological Landscape Corridor, Hundred-Year-Old Christian Church, Fishing Island, Ecological Water Town, Ecological Wetland, and Four Gentlemen Dong Cang Wine Base are scattered around the lake. All kinds of boats and sightseeing cars shuttle between the scenic spots, and there are many places to relax and rest.
