1. Xiake Ancient Trail

The Xiake Ancient Trail is located at the foot of Mount Jinhua. Starting from Zhizhe Temple, climb up the mountain, pass Bailu Xia Village, turn northeast, pass Doujiyan under the bullet, go north to Lutian. The Shuanglong Scenic Area has restored part of it. The starting point is Bailu Xia Village, the end point is Yangjia Mountain at an altitude of 550 meters, with a total length of about 3 kilometers and a vertical difference of more than 300 meters.

2. Jinlan Ancient Trail

Jinlan Ancient Trail in North Mount Jinhua was an important transportation route connecting North Mount Jinhua, a famous Taoist mountain and scenic spot in ancient times, to Lanxi. Xu Xiake, the great geographer, traveler and explorer, also walked this road and described his travels in detail in his travelogue.

Starting point: Drive to Yanhou Village, go up the mountain road to Yanhou Reservoir, and you will reach the starting point of the ancient trail; Total length about 10 kilometers.

3. Taiyangling Ancient Trail

Taiyangling is an offshoot of Beishan, with a height of dozens of feet. The ancient trail is about 5 li long, with a total of 487 steps, all paved with bluestone. Officials, scholars taking exams, and countless merchants and people have all walked on this ancient trail. At the end of the ancient trail, passing through Jieyun Pavilion, is the ancient Pujiang, now Lanxi.

4. Lanxi Feiqiao Ding Ancient Trail

Feiqiao Ding Ancient Trail is located in Zhiyian Village, Lanxi City, with continuous mountains, challenging climbing difficulty. The highest peak is Feidingqiao, with endless scenery on the dangerous peak. Reaching Feidingqiao, looking far into the distance, the mountains stand shoulder to shoulder, rolling up and down, changing light and dark, and full of greenery. Zhiyian Reservoir is like a piece of jade embedded in the mountains, quiet and gentle. Zhiyian Ancient Village sits nestled in the embrace of the green mountains, like a pearl hidden in the sleeve of a giant, peaceful and simple. The blue sky is lined with white clouds, within easy reach. It is like a fairyland. The trip takes about 8 hours.

5. Yiwu Baling Ancient Trail

This is a hidden ancient trail in the lush mountains near Qingyanfu Village, Jiangdong Street. It was once an important passage from Yiwu to Dongyang. It is said that the stone step path about 5 kilometers long from Qingyanfu Village, Jiangdong Street to Balingkeng Village, Fotang Town is the essence of Baling Ancient Trail.

6. Yongkang Emperor Ancient Trail

Yongkang is located at the confluence of the remnants of Xianxialing and Kuocang Mountain, which is also the watershed between the Qiantang River and the Oujiang River systems. In ancient times, people relied on their feet to climb over mountains and ridges to make a living. This ancient trail leads to Wenzhou and Taizhou in the south, and to Jinhua and Quzhou in the north. To be more precise, it leads south to Jinyun Taohualing, Lishui Lianfang, Qingtian, and finally to Wenzhou; east to Jinyun (Hutou) Gongqian, Xianju Daling, Taizhou; west to Wuzhou, north to Quzhou.

Yongkang people believe that this ancient trail is actually related to the Yellow Emperor.

Starting point: Shicheng Mountain

7. Dongyang Axi Ancient Trail

Axi Ancient Trail is located between Axi Pit in Hulus Town, Dongyang and East Bai Tianchi, with a height difference of about 200 meters. The terrain is steep and winding, with charming scenery. On both sides of the Axi Ancient Trail are high mountains, with a tributary in the middle. Walking among them, the stream gurgles, which is beautiful. The whole ancient trail is 12.5 kilometers long.

This ancient trail still retains its primitive ecological features, with strange trees and rocks. Wandering among them, the ancient charm still remains, and behind every scene seems to hide a distant legend.

Route: Baixi Village – Axi Ancient Trail – Wutuping – Taibo Peak – Kongque Wu – Dongxi Village – Xiyuan Village – Poholing – Baixi Village, 26km. The whole route is mainly composed of ancient trails, mountain trails, and yew forest trails, with less than 10% of the mountain road.

8. Pujiang Maling Ancient Trail

Maling Ancient Trail starts from Malingjiao Village in Yuzhai Township, Pujiang County, and goes all the way to Lucishi, Tonglu, winding through the towering mountains at the junction of Pujiang, Jiande, and Tonglu, with a total length of more than 20 kilometers. This is an ancient trail paved with bluestone slabs, with a width of about 1.2 meters. From the Maling tunnel entrance, it winds up along the mountain, stretching as far as the eye can see.

9. Wuyi Sheling Ancient Trail

This ancient trail was the only way to reach the outside world along the creek, and also an important transportation route from Lishui to Wuyi. At that time, there were no paddy fields in the mountains, and food was limited. To buy rice, people had to go to Wuyi City. They would set out before dawn every time, walking hundreds of miles back and forth.

Sheling Ancient Trail belongs to the past, and it is now neglected. Except for some hikers who occasionally come here to exercise, it is already deserted.

10. Pan’an Zhu Xiling Ancient Trail

Zhu Xiling Ancient Trail was built in the Northern Song Dynasty. It starts from Zhu Xilingjiao Village in Anwen Street, Pan’an County in the east, and ends at Yangkeng Reservoir in Qizhitang Village, Dongyang City in the west. It is 5 kilometers long, with a width of 2 meters. It was the main channel connecting Pan’an to Dongyang in ancient times. The vegetation on both sides is rich, with maple trees distributed in patches, and more than 20 ancient maple trees over 800 years old.
