Hotel reservation Regarding hotels, because there is a senior herdsman friend in Hongyuan, so I chose one of the three hotels recommended by my friend (Hongyuan Mingzhu, Nomadic Time, Hot Spring Hotel). I have long heard that the accommodation conditions in the plateau are limited, and you have to worry about the comfort of hot water and viewing, so I chose Nomadic Time (living in a bad place will definitely affect the mood of the whole trip).

One thing you need to pay special attention to is that hotels generally allow check-in after 2pm. Although you can check in your luggage early, it is still recommended to schedule your time in advance. If you can check in when you arrive, not only will you save time, but you can also rest for a while and tidy up. If four people travel together, then choose a Tibetan hotel, Tibetan style hotels are more characteristic, there is a fire hall where you can gather around the stove to chat at night, and there is a small courtyard where you can watch the stars together.

So you need to prepare to deal with high altitude reaction: taking red ginseng capsules and preparing brown sugar powder or headache powder are very necessary~ Red ginseng should be taken a week in advance, otherwise you can only buy high oxygen water at the local tourism service station for 100+ yuan a bag!

Equipment: raincoat, rain gear, hat, T-shirt, sneakers, windbreaker, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, sunglasses, power bank, tattoo stickers, warmth, shoulder bag, snacks.

As for regular clothes, there is only one principle – comfortable and light! I am afraid of the sun, so in addition to a parasol, I also have to bring a sun protection suit (and I also prepared a small tube of sunscreen). It is worth mentioning that female shoes can bring a set of clothes that don’t need to wear a bra, which is very relaxing.

Another sharp tool is a shawl! There are many places to sell them at various scenic spots on the grassland, which are mostly items that are wholesale from the lotus pond to the scenic spots. Rather than being sold repeatedly, it is better to prepare one yourself! As for other items, I won’t go into details one by one. Many forum strategies have detailed lists. Wenchuan-Lixian-Emutang Flower Sea From Chengguan Expressway, Duowen Expressway via Wenchuan, there are many bends and mountain roads along the way, and the companions around me reminded each other not to sleep to avoid high altitude reaction. In fact, on weekends, going to a place away from the hustle and bustle feels particularly great, let alone going to the grassland that I have always longed for, so I felt cheerful all the way, and what surprised me was that the flowers in the mountains bloomed very luxuriantly because of the rain.

Below is the first sunflower of summer that I found at the rest stop, listening to the gurgling stream, the breath of nature came rushing towards me.

The driver found a special small courtyard to have lunch, there are brightly blooming roses, there are farm-style oil and meat (fat but not greasy) and homemade sausages, full of local characteristics. Be careful here, all toilets along the way charge 1 yuan/time, even if you eat or buy something, you can’t be free, so it’s best to prepare a small wallet)

Then we arrived at the Lixian Tourism Service Center, the legendary “high oxygen water” for high altitude reaction is provided here. The staff will explain and “push” high oxygen water to the vehicles entering, because from here you will enter a no-man’s zone for half an hour. When driving, I looked at the mobile phone signal, and it was indeed very poor, just going around in circles. Finally, I entered the Emutang Scenic Area.

Take the sightseeing bus (98 yuan/person) to enter the flower sea in the scenic area. The tour guide on the bus is called “Zhuoma”. Tibetan grassland love songs are played in a loop on the bus, which sounds particularly down-to-earth compared to the songs heard at the Bada Dance.

There are many hikers camping on the grassland, and there are ordinary and luxurious tents available in the camp. Because we decided to stay overnight in Hongyuan, we crossed the Partridge Mountain Tunnel with the driver and reached the Brush Road Intersection (which is the intersection of Brush Sutra Temple and Maerkang, turn left to Maerkang, turn right to Hongyuan).

Immediately after, we arrived at the driver’s holy mountain, [Chazhen Liangzi]. It is the watershed of the Yangtze River and the Yellow River. The south of the mountain is the Yangtze River basin, and the north of the mountain is the Yellow River basin. When the Red Army crossed the grassland, they passed this place. Now there are many tourists taking pictures and leaving messages on Chazhen Liangzi. Parking requires a fee of 10 yuan per car. What is touching is that every time the driver passes here, he has to pray for peace here. It is specially noted that since we set off from Chengdu and went northwest, and Chazhen Liangzi is a watershed, it is the only passageway from the south to enter the northwest Sichuan grassland, which means that we started crossing the Ruoergai Great Grassland from there.

Because we arrived in Hongyuan earlier, we chose to go to the hotel to watch the grassland scenery performance. The difference between it and the traditional performance and dance is the finale. The music festival dancers accompany Songtsen Gampo to appear

Day2: Ruoergai Flower Lake-Zhuoqu-Lavender Scenic Area The grassland really brightens up very early, I missed the sunrise at 6 o’clock, at 7 o’clock it was already the noon sun in Chengdu, the sun had already filled this small county town, and we began to cross the Ruoergai Great Grassland. The continuous mountains and grasslands all the way really make people sigh. Sichuan can have such a magical place —- there are pieces of spring pastures, summer pastures, autumn pastures, …, which are defined by the herdsmen all the way. It is said that the richest village here, every household raises 450 cattle a year.

Because we missed the most beautiful sunrise at Flower Lake (the bee friend who came to the grassland for the third time also failed to complete the wish of going to Flower Lake to watch the sunrise, so the previous lesson: check the sunrise and sunset time in advance!), the original plan to visit the Flower Lake Scenic Area was changed to the local “Small Flower Lake” (the important thing is that it is free!). The Small Flower Lake is not big. It takes about 1 hour to walk around. There are viewing platforms inside, and some wooden bridges are damaged (bee friends who travel independently should be careful of birds), herdsmen provide grassland motorcycle services, and those who are brave can try it.

Day3: Zhuoqu-Songpan-Maoxian-Chengdu Get up early in the morning and go for a walk in the Tea Horse Market. This is a concentrated tourism shopping center with silver ornaments, medicinal materials (safflower, Cordyceps sinensis), barley sugar, beef, oxhorn combs, etc. There is also a self-service restaurant in the market.

There is a Minjiangyuan release pond and a place for praying for blessings, where you can experience the different ethnic customs of the Anduo Tibetan, Jiarong Tibetan, and Qiang peoples, which is quite different.
