Speaking of Huangshan Mountain, everyone should know that there are two gates to enter Huangshan Mountain, one is the South Gate and the other is the North Gate. So many friends are very curious, which gate is better to enter from, the South Gate or the North Gate? Let’s take a look with the editor!
1. Which gate is the best to enter from
In Huangshan Mountain, the back mountain refers to the Songgu Scenic Area, which is close to the North Gate of Huangshan Mountain. After entering the North Gate, there are two ways to go up the mountain: ropeway (Taiping Ropeway: Songgu Station-Danxia Station) and trail (Songgu Temple-Qingliangtai). Taking the Taiping Ropeway cable car only takes about ten minutes to go directly to Songlin Peak in the West Sea; if you choose to hike, you can go from Songgu Temple, passing through the First Dao Ting, Xianrenpu Road, and Eighteen Bends, and finally reach Qingliangtai in the North Sea, which will take about three to four hours.
It’s just that the surrounding traffic of the North Gate is far less convenient than the South Gate, and the Songgu Scenic Area itself does not have too many particularly attractive places, so even those tourists who choose to go up from the back mountain, the vast majority will still go up from the Yungu Temple entrance behind the South Gate. This entrance, although located in the front mountain, can lead to the back mountain’s Shixin Peak and Qingliangtai, etc., so tourists also regard it as the back mountain entrance, while the other entrance behind the South Gate, Ciguang Pavilion entrance, because it leads to the front mountain’s Tiandu Peak, Yiping Peak, etc., is called the front mountain entrance by tourists.
In addition to the North and South gates, there is also a relatively remote West Gate in the Huangshan Scenic Area, and the South Gate is branched into two entrances, so there are actually 4 entrances in the Scenic Area. Based on the traffic facilities of each entrance and the rationality of the tour route, those who are visiting Huangshan Mountain for the first time will generally choose to enter and exit from the two entrances of the South Gate.
2. Ticket price
1. Huangshan Scenic Area Entrance Ticket 190 yuan/person (half price ticket for 60-65 years old, free ticket for over 65 years old)
2. Scenic spot sightseeing bus one-way 19 yuan
3. Yungu or Taiping Ropeway ticket (one-way) 80 yuan, Yiping Ropeway ticket (one-way) 90 yuan (it is recommended to take the cable car up and down the mountain)
4. Suggested travel time: 1 day, the best travel time is from April to November, the temperature is lower at other times of the year
3. Hiking routes
1. Ciguang Pavilion (front mountain) – Tiandu Peak – Yiping Building – Guangmingding – West Sea – North Sea – Bai’e Ridge – Yungu Temple (back mountain)
This route is very tiring, there are few hikers, you need to hike 15 kilometers, and it will take about 3-4 hours to see the essential attractions
2. Yungu Temple (back mountain) – Bai’e Ridge – North Sea – West Sea – Guangmingding – Yiping Building – Tiandu Peak – Ciguang Pavilion (front mountain)
