Xiling Snow Mountain is an excellent ski resort. Everything here is arranged and organized in an orderly manner, allowing your mind to jump in a freewheeling way, becoming a vibrant and exciting sports mode. Below, I will share a glimpse of my Xiling Snow Mountain travelogue.
Xiling Snow Mountain got its name from the famous ancient poem by Du Fu, the great poet of the Tang Dynasty: “Window contains Xiling snow for a thousand autumns, door moors boats from ten thousand miles in the east of Wu.” It was precisely because of this reputation that I came here.
Filled with passion, I drove dozens of miles to go there, eager to see the true face of Mount Lu and experience the grandeur of “door moors boats from ten thousand miles in the east of Wu”.
Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperating. A light drizzle fell from the sky, the sky was gloomy and the sun was nowhere to be seen.
After taking two cable cars, I finally reached the top of the mountain. Time was pressing, as the cable car would stop operating at 5:30. My fervent heart was quenched by a bucket of cold water. My burning passion plummeted in an instant. My heart sank, and I was filled with disappointment. I composed a poem to express my feelings at this moment.
I came here, attracted by the name of the poet sage and his famous poem,
I climbed to the peak and looked around for breathtaking views.
I did not see the eternal snow of Xiling,
Only because the mist obscured the mountain’s shadow.
I came up the mountain full of joy,
I go down the mountain with a heavy heart.
Mist and clouds shroud the mountains and fields,
Deep emotion and rain, a journey to Xiling.
We didn’t have time to go any further, so we could only look at flowers in the mist halfway up. It was a hazy, gray scene, and we couldn’t see anything. We couldn’t see the shadow of the snow mountain at all.
With a sense of disappointment, we dejectedly took the cable car back down the same way. Unexpectedly, while riding the bus and cable car, we saw a beautiful view of mist rising.
My gloomy mood instantly dissipated. I couldn’t stop taking pictures with my phone, and I also captured some beautiful mountain scenery.
This is truly a case of losing something at the east corner and gaining something at the west corner. It wasn’t a complete waste of time after all. Although I didn’t see the true face of Xiling Snow Mountain, I did see the unusual scenery of the snow mountain in the mist.
Mist and clouds enveloped the scene, green trees provided shade. The peaks were like shy maidens, veiled in white gauze, hiding their beautiful faces.
The hazy atmosphere added a touch of alluring charm. It also aroused the desire of tourists to catch a glimpse of their beauty.
This seven-character quatrain by the poet sage, on the surface, portrays a lively and vibrant scene. But within the cheerful and bright imagery, lies the poet’s longing for the passage of time, his loneliness and boredom, and his complex emotions when he finds a glimmer of hope. Beyond that hope, there is more of the poet’s sadness about disappointment, his uncertainty and fear about whether hope will come true.
The poet sage has passed away, but his poems have survived. When we, the people of today, climb Xiling Snow Mountain again, our feelings are very different from those of the poet sage. Du Fu wandered for many years without a place to call home, although he always had a glimmer of hope, that hope had diminished greatly.
The poet was born at a time of upheaval, unable to realize his great aspirations. He was filled with resentment and longed for home.
We live in a prosperous era, our lives are abundant and our spirits are light. The whole nation is striving for a moderately prosperous society, together we are building the Chinese Dream. The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has painted a blueprint for a happy future for us. We are encouraged by the party’s strict governance and its courage to boldly reform.
The heart that is devoted to the people, the heart that cares for the people, has warmed the hearts of the people and united their strength.
“Window contains Xiling snow for a thousand autumns, door moors boats from ten thousand miles in the east of Wu” is now a thing of the past. Times have changed, people have changed. Xiling Snow Mountain remains as majestic as ever. Even though it is shrouded in thick fog, it remains alluring.
When the sun comes out and the clouds disperse, the scene will once again be one of dazzling beauty. Xiling Snow Mountain, you will always be majestic and towering in my heart.
I did not see the eternal snow of Xiling,
I did not see the boats from ten thousand miles in the east of Wu.
Clouds and mist obscured the pure image,
I was lost in fascination and didn’t know when to return.
I didn’t see the true face of Xiling,
I blame it on the shallowness of my connection with her.
If we have a connection, we will meet from a thousand miles away,
Without a connection, I will never see the face of the snow mountain.
