1. Shangfang Mountain
Shangfang Mountain is the north branch of the Qizi Mountains, located in the southwestern suburbs of Suzhou, northwest of Shihu Lake, in the Hengtang Street of Huqiu District.
It is famous for its remnants of the Wu and Yue dynasties and its idyllic scenery of the Jiangnan water town. The mountains and waters blend seamlessly here, creating picturesque scenery and numerous historical sites. It is known as the “Wonderland of Wu”, a dazzling jewel in the Taihu Lake Scenic Area.

2. Tianping Mountain
Tianping Mountain Scenic Area is located in the southwest of Suzhou’s ancient city, on the banks of Taihu Lake. It is the core scenic area of the Taihu Lake National Scenic Area, known as the “First Mountain of Wu” and the “Wonderland of Jiangnan”, and is one of the four major maple viewing destinations in China.
Tianping Mountain is 201 meters above sea level. Although the mountain is not high, it is somewhat steep, making it exciting to climb. Every year from October to December, during the Red Maple Festival, the vibrant autumn colors attract countless cameras. Of course, the spring scenery of Tianping Mountain is also very attractive! You definitely don’t want to miss it.

3. Lingyan Mountain
Lingyan Mountain is located in the northwest of Mudu Town in Wuzhong District, 2 kilometers north of Tianping Mountain. It is named “Lingyan Mountain” because of a famous “Lingzhi Stone” in front of the Lingyan Pagoda.
Lingyan Mountain is 182 meters above sea level. The mountain is full of strange rocks, with towering cliffs and jagged rocks, as if they were created by nature. The Lingyan Mountain Temple on the mountain is said to be located on the site of the former Ganyuan Palace built by King Goujian of Wu for Xi Shi.

4. Qionglong Mountain
Qionglong Mountain is located on the east side of Taihu Lake in Suzhou. Its main peak, Ruomao Peak, is 341.7 meters above sea level, making it the highest and largest mountain in Suzhou. A winding mountain road leads directly to the top of the mountain. The mountain is covered with forests, and locals consider it a natural oxygen bar. Ancient celebrities like Sun Wu left their footprints here, and the scenic spots on the mountain are centered around these famous figures.

5. Tianchi Mountain
Tianchi Mountain is the most famous scenic spot in the Mudu Scenic Area of the Taihu Lake Scenic Area, and is a remnant of Tianmu Mountain in Zhejiang Province. It is about 6 kilometers away from Cangshu Town. The scenic area is famous for its mountains, rocks, and springs, with beautiful mountains and clear waters and a quiet environment. Tianchi Mountain is known as the “Little Huangshan of Jiangnan”. Its deep cultural heritage is captivating.
Legend has it that in the Wei and Jin dynasties, Monk Zhi Gong founded the Jijian Temple, and the temple still retains well-preserved Yuan Dynasty stone houses. This is a treasure of Tianchi Mountain, its architectural craftsmanship is exquisite, dating back over 600 years. Inside the stone house, there is a stone Buddha for blessings of good fortune and peace, and the Three Stars shining brightly. Shigong Mountain
Shigong Mountain is located at the southeastern end of Xishan Island. It is named Shigong Mountain because there were two strange rocks near the water at the foot of the mountain, shaped like an old man and an old woman, called Shigong and Shipo.
Shigong Mountain is surrounded by water on three sides and backed by a mountain range. The entire mountain is covered with verdant cypresses, as if a green snail resting on water, a jade floating on a lake, with endless beautiful scenery, a true paradise on earth. Every year on the thirteenth night of the ninth lunar month, one can witness the extraordinary sight of the “Sun and Moon shining together”.

6. Piaomiao Peak
Piaomiao Peak Scenic Area is located in the heart of the Taihu Lake Xishan National Forest Park. The mountains are high and the forests are dense, with lush vegetation. The winding mountain streams run through the entire scenic area, with mountain springs flowing year-round, creating a beautiful forest ecosystem. It is the core scenic area of the Taihu Lake Xishan National Forest Park. The Piaomiao Peak Scenic Area consists of Piaomiao Peak, Shuiyuewu, and Hanzhunwu.
Piaomiao Peak is the highest of the 72 peaks around Taihu Lake, at an altitude of 336 meters. It is named after the fact that it is often shrouded in mist, like a legendary ethereal fairyland.

7. Wangshan
Wangshan is located 8 kilometers southwest of Suzhou City. It is known as the “Most Beautiful Mountain Village in Suzhou”, with abundant negative ions and excellent tourism environment. Situated in the embrace of natural forests, Wangshan not only has rich natural scenery and a long history and culture, but is also a pastoral village with a Suzhou-style taste. It has delicious farmhouse snacks, attracting people from surrounding cities to drive here for a meal.
Bus: Take Routes 62 and 503 to Wangshan Village, then walk west for about 1,000 meters to the fork in the road.
8. Yuanyang Mountain
Yuanyang Mountain is located in the center of the Taihu Lake National Tourism Resort, surrounded by water on three sides. It is connected to Xukou Ancient Town in the east, faces Guangfu Dengwei, Xuanmu, Daxiao Gongshan in the north, overlooks Dongdongting Mountain in the south, controls Xidongting Mountain in the west, and the Taihu Lake Bridge stretches like a rainbow over the waves, connecting Xishan, Yeshan, and Changsha islands.
In spring, when the flowers bloom, Yuanyang Mountain’s Taohua Creek and Taohua Pond are filled with hundreds of acres of blooming peach blossoms, and hundreds of acres of Biluochun tea are harvested. Enjoying the flowers, picking tea, frying tea, and tasting tea is a dreamlike experience.

9. Yufeng Mountain
Yufeng Mountain is located within Tinglin Park in the northwestern part of Kunshan City. It is shaped like a saddle, so it is commonly known as Ma’anshan (Saddle Mountain). It was later renamed “Yufeng Mountain”. Yufeng Mountain covers an area of 1.5 square kilometers and is 80 meters above sea level. It stands alone in the midst of vast plains. The mountain produces jade (Kunshan Stone), which is white, crystalline, delicate, and a national gem. The name Yufeng Mountain comes from this.
