Liangcuo Historical and Cultural District
Liangcuo is known as “the most beautiful ancient village at the mouth of the three rivers,” located in Chengmen Town at the mouth of the three rivers in Cangshan District. In addition to well-preserved contiguous ancient houses, it also has historical culture and humanistic atmosphere worth experiencing.

01. Ancient Houses
The architecture of Liangcuo is very distinctive, with a wooden and stone structure, gray tiles, low and square, with the characteristic saddleback walls of Min-style architecture everywhere, with smooth lines and exquisite details. The houses are basically made up of three colors: black, white, and gray, with a touch of brick red, as if walking into a painting. Liangcuo currently preserves more than 30 ancient buildings from the Tang, Yuan, and Qing dynasties, some of which have been transformed into teahouses, flower houses, and academies, realizing another value.
02. Liang Clan Ancestral Hall
Among the existing ancient buildings in Liangcuo, Yongsheng Liang Clan Ancestral Hall is one of the most popular check-in spots. The Liang Clan Ancestral Hall is a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit, built in the first year of Longxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1163), with a history of more than 800 years. The hall name “Yiyan Hall” was inscribed by Zhu Xi. On both sides of the gate of the ancestral hall, there is a pair of white elephants made of white porcelain cups, which is one of the iconic totems of Liangcuo. The white elephants are about 3 meters tall, and it is said that the porcelain cups inlaid on the elephant body were donated by the Liang clan members at the time.
03. Public Teahouse
Fuzhou’s tea stall culture has a long history. Storytelling, bathhouses, and tea stalls are arguably the “three treasures” of Fuzhou people’s leisure activities. Tea stalls are important social venues for old Fuzhou people, where they can talk about social news, life experiences, and even settle family disputes. On days off, invite three or five friends to sit and have tea, chat, and watch the clouds come and go, it is very enjoyable.
04. Wedding Customs House
At No. 172 Liangcuo, there is a house called “Jiahe Xishi,” which is like a small museum of Fuzhou wedding customs, displaying many essential items for traditional weddings.
05. Liang Shougang’s House
Known locally as “Liang Chaojing’s House,” it has been passed down for eight generations and is over 300 years old.
06. Market and Farming
“Old Market New Market” is a characteristic market in Liangcuo, located in the square south of the Liang Clan Ancestral Hall. It has all kinds of stalls, including intangible cultural heritage old brands, creative handicrafts, traditional snacks, and more. If you are lucky, you can even interact with alpacas. On the lawn next to the Liangcuo Supply and Marketing Cooperative, there are “one-meter vegetable gardens” for agricultural science education experience and pet interaction activities.
07. Flower Fields
The flowers in the flower fields change with the seasons, including cosmos, sunflowers, and rape blossoms, offering a different view each season. In spring, there are rape blossoms, in summer, sunflowers, and in autumn and winter, cosmos bloom, each season’s scenery is different.
