Hunan Provincial Forest Botanical Garden was established in 1985. It covers an area of 120 hectares with a forest coverage rate of 90%. At present, the garden has introduced and domesticated, and in-situ conserved more than 3,200 species of plants belonging to 208 families, 900 genera, and more than 4,000 varieties.
