Itinerary
D1: Lhasa-Yamdrok Lake-Shigatse-Gyatso La Pass-Qutang Township
Yamdrok Lake
As one of the three holy lakes in Tibet, Yamdrok Lake will appear before your eyes in a beautiful and moving posture no matter what season you go there. The lake water is clear and blue, like a turquoise earring inlaid among the mountains.
When waterbirds wander among them, they give it a vibrant life. Under the sunshine, the lake surface is sparkling, which is very dreamy.
Karo La Glacier
Karo La Glacier is famous for the movie “Red River Valley”, but it has also been damaged to a certain extent because of “Red River Valley”, and due to the current climate warming, the Karo La Glacier is no longer as impressive as it used to be.
But in fact, when you drive through Karo La, it is like a huge white hada covering the snow-capped mountains, and you can hardly help but stop and admire it.
D2: Qutang Township-Yupa Village (Trek Officially Begins)-Xiaowu Lake
From Qutang Township at an altitude of 3800 meters, it rises sharply to Xiaowu Lake at an altitude of 4700 meters. Be sure to watch out for altitude sickness.
D3: Xiaowu Lake-Xiaowula Pass-Orchid Valley-Zhuoxiang
At Xiaowu Lake, you can see Makalu Peak and the sunrise and reflection of Mount Everest.
D4: Zhuoxiang-Tangxiang (Snow Mountain Viewing Platform)
After crossing the primeval forest and alpine meadows, if the weather is good and the fog is less, you can see the panorama of Mount Everest, Lhotse and Makalu, a series of eight-thousand-meter peaks, standing tall and impressive.
D5: Tangxiang-Garma Valley-Ouga
Here, you can experience the rich and colorful ecological environment of the Garma Valley. Along the way, snow mountains and glaciers accompany you, and there are also forests and clear springs, as if you are walking through a paradise.
D6: Ouga-Baidang-Ouga
D7: Ouga-Cuo Xue Renma
Cuo Xue Renma is known as a five-star camp. You can see Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Mount Everest at the same time, with four snow mountains reflected in the lake.
D8: Return
Best Time
From late September to October each year, this period has passed the rainy season, with less rain and fog, making it easier to see the full panorama of the snow mountains.
Precautions
1. Be sure to prepare your trekking equipment, including trekking shoes, walking sticks, headlamps, etc.
2. The altitude is high and the temperature is low, so be sure to bring thick down jackets and windbreakers.
3. You will be camping in the camp, so bring your camping sleeping bag.
4. Be sure to bring your ID card, and it is best to apply for a border pass in advance at your registered residence.
5. The ultraviolet rays are strong in Tibet and the sunshine is long, so be sure to protect yourself from the sun. Don’t forget sunglasses and sunscreen.
