How much does it cost to travel to the Aegean Sea? Where is love? Why is the Aegean Sea called the Sea of Love?

This is my first time in Greece, but not for a vacation, but for a business trip. But after stealing time, I will still go to see the beautiful scenery. After all, it is not easy to come here once. I don’t know when I will have the chance to come again. It’s like the important people in life, once you miss them, it’s really hard to have the chance to meet again.

By the Aegean Sea

Gold is not without impurities, and jade has flaws. The Western breakfast on the second day was the same as yesterday, simple and light, and still palatable. Walking along the coast, the sky was clearer, the sea was clearer, the sea near the shore was slightly green, the further away it was, the bluer it became. People sunbathing were enjoying their time quietly, but we had to go on a business trip today.

After a sumptuous lunch, C classmate had to report on his work, and I took some photos on the side. C classmate’s work was recognized by everyone. It turned out that the success of a business trip could bring more joy and make this trip to Europe more meaningful.

Bus stop

The business trip came to an end for now. We headed north to a town on Rhodes, to take a look at the local people’s living area. We waited for the bus for a long, long time, but the bus was nowhere to be seen. We met a couple of Indian couples and we shared a taxi. It cost 2 euros per person, which was a good deal and also faster, but my communication with the Indian friend was a little difficult, and the atmosphere was a bit awkward. Fortunately, the journey was not long.

The Palace of the Grand Master

After getting off the bus, we went to the old town first. The Palace of the Grand Master, with its high stone walls, felt like we were back in medieval Europe. It was once the administrative center of the Knights of St. John, established in Jerusalem. The ancient castle buildings amidst the green leaves and flowers were majestic and poetic.

Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea

Continuing our walk, we arrived at the new town and headed towards the port. At the northernmost tip of Rhodes, the Aegean Sea meets the Mediterranean Sea. From a distance, the Mediterranean Sea is bluer, while the Aegean Sea has a hint of green. The hazy mountains in the distance are Turkey, an Asian country. Sitting here, you are on the European coast, looking at Asia, but also watching the meeting of the two seas. Open a can of cola, refreshing and invigorating. Pick up a pebble, throw it into the sea, and don’t know whether it fell into the Aegean Sea or floated to the Mediterranean Sea.

Rhodes Harbour

Rhodes Harbour has a iconic bronze deer, while the Colossus of Rhodes is a historical mystery. Legend has it that the statue was actually the Greek sun god and their guardian deity, Helios. It was 33 meters high and took 12 years to build. However, it was destroyed by an earthquake 50 years after its completion. Afterwards, the invading Arabs took the remains to Syria, making it very difficult to study the Colossus of Rhodes, hence the mystery. The pursuit of civilization is both awe-inspiring and inevitably frustrating and regrettable. However, the exploration never stops. The traces of the ancient people’s lives, like a long scroll, are thought-provoking.

On the way back, we waited for the bus for a long time again, and the ticket seller was impatient. While taking the bus, we looked at the town, and felt that the people here live so leisurely, walking around at a slow pace, like a paradise on earth. Only one McDonald’s stood by the road, and its style seemed out of place.

A day of feasting

In the evening, we tasted delicious grilled squid. Back on the balcony, a Beatles melody played, the sea breeze blew, and a chill ran through us. This day was fulfilling and carefree. The only drawback was that C classmate caught a cold today, but recovered while busy and running around. The beautiful scenery is truly healing.
