Ye Shengtao Memorial Hall
Recommendation: Mr. Ye Shengtao said that Luzhi was his second hometown. Those years, the people or things that inspired his endless creativity, the traces and old objects that integrated into his infinite affection, you can all find them in the Ye Shengtao Memorial Hall.
Xiao Residence
Recommendation: The former residence of Hong Kong Film Award Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Fong Fong. I’m curious, what exactly are the everyday things that this beautiful woman cherishes?
Wang Tao Memorial Hall
Recommendation: This is the former residence of an outstanding thinker who preceded the “Kang Liang” reform. The memorial hall is divided into three parts: the Wang Tao’s Life and Deeds Exhibition Room, Wang Tao’s Former Residence and Tao Garden. Some stories you can only understand by slowing down.
Water Town Women’s Costume Museum
Recommendation: I’m always curious about the hardworking and kind Luzhi women, what are the characteristics of the “eight-piece suit” they wear. The answers you want are all in the Luzhi Water Town Women’s Costume Museum, where there are texts, pictures, real objects, etc., systematically introduced in categories.
Historical Relics Museum
Recommendation: If you want to know what Luzhi was like five thousand years ago, go to the Historical Relics Museum. It showcases the production and life scenes of the ancestors over the past five thousand years.
Jiangnan Cultural Garden
Recommendation: Just a glance, all the beautiful imaginations of the Jiangnan in my dreams emerge. Small bridges and flowing water, pavilions and rockeries, long corridors reflecting the azure sky, emerald green willows, there are endless verses to read.
Wansheng Rice Merchant
Ye Shengtao’s novel “Gained Three or Five Dou More” is depicted on the walls of the courtyard in the form of comic strips. It’s like going back to the past, in the magnificent scroll of Jiangnan’s traditional farm tools and the prosperous scene of the rice merchant in the Republic of China.
Shen Residence
The most famous big family in Luzhi, with financial value comparable to half a town. Those years, what’s so special about the layout of a big family? Go to the Shen Residence and see for yourself.
4、Introduction to the Scenic Area
Luzhi Town, formerly known as Fuli, is under the jurisdiction of Wujiang District, Suzhou City. It was once praised by Fei Xiaotong as “the first town in the water town of Shenzhou”, known for its abundance of water, bridges, alleys, and celebrities. It is also famous for its sculpted Arhat and water town women’s costumes, and has a 2,500-year history of civilization. Luzhi Town is a town with abundant water. It has Yangcheng Lake to the north, Dianshan Lake, Chenghu Lake to the south, Jinji Lake, and Dushu Lake to the west, and therefore is known as “the five lakes’ tingle”.
Within the scenic area, there are Ye Shengtao Memorial Hall, Wansheng Rice Merchant, Wu Dong Water Town Women’s Costume Museum, Wang Tao Memorial Hall, Fong Fong Film and Television Art Museum, and other attractions, which are unique. “Water alleys, many small bridges, people all sleep on the river” is a true portrayal of the thick water town atmosphere of Luzhi. In the original one square kilometer area of the ancient town, there were “72 and a half” stone bridges of various styles from the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. There are still 41 bridges, known as the “China Ancient Bridge Museum”.
In addition, ancient ginkgo trees are also a major feature of Luzhi Town. There are currently 7 ginkgo trees in the town. Mr. Ye Shengtao, a famous educator and writer, loved ginkgo trees. After his death, he was buried next to four ginkgo trees (Baosheng Temple in Luzhi).
