This time, taking advantage of the weekend break, I didn’t want to stay at home all the time. After discussing with my family, we decided to go to Qinhuangdao for a trip. The main purpose was to relax and get rid of some of the troubles in work and life. When we came back, we could be refreshed and ready to continue our journey. This trip was a bit special because we went by car and made some plans along the way. So, we set off.
We left Guye at 7:30 pm. We took a break at Luanxian Service Area and Beidaihe Service Area. Because it was night, we drove relatively steadily and slowly. In addition, the traffic to Qinhuangdao was heavy. The journey, which should have taken an hour and a half, took two hours. We didn’t arrive at Qinhuangdao North until before 10 pm.

Then we made a temporary hotel reservation. We found one online. Then, it took another half hour to get there. When we arrived, we found it was pretty good. Plus, it was in Shanhaiguan District, which is quite close to the surrounding attractions.
DAY1: Le Dao Ocean Park
On the morning of July 1st, we decided to go to Le Dao Ocean Park. It took us only 15 minutes to get there. We bought swimsuits and slippers at the entrance. The ticket was 160 yuan per person.
There are some very fun projects inside. I can’t swim, so I felt it was all thrilling. The projects there are similar to water parks in the city. I prefer these kinds of projects.

Although I felt there weren’t as many entertainment facilities as Happy Valley, there is a beach! The current season is just right, neither too cold nor too hot, and there are no jellyfish. We stayed there until the afternoon and then went back to the hotel. We took a break, mainly because we were sunburned after a day of sun exposure and needed a good bath.
Then we went downstairs to eat. We found a good barbecue restaurant.
After dinner, we strolled around Shanhaiguan District and took a look at the city wall and so on.

DAY2: Yan Sai Lake
In the morning, we decided to go to Yan Sai Lake because it wasn’t far away according to the map. We bought three tickets from the hotel owner, which were a bit cheaper than buying them at the entrance.
When we got there, we found it was really hot and humid!
We found it wasn’t that fun, it’s just a place with mountains and water, haha!
There are some animals inside, but they are not rare, such as ostriches, peacocks, mandarin ducks, and squirrels.
It’s worth mentioning that this is the first time I’ve seen a real peacock spreading its tail feathers. It was quite interesting.
We took advantage of the double-day weekend to embark on a spontaneous trip. The advantage of driving ourselves is that we can decide the attractions ourselves. Moreover, for short trips, the main purpose is to relax, so we don’t need to rush to see the attractions. We just need to enjoy ourselves. We went back to Tangshan in the afternoon, which was very convenient.
The most important thing to do when you come to the seaside is to remember to eat the delicious seafood here. The local specialties are: iron plate crab, scallops, perch, cuttlefish, ribbonfish, squid, and many varieties of shellfish.
