I was at home during the weekend and didn’t want to waste such nice weather, so I decided to join my friends from the Explorer Outdoor Self-driving Group for a self-driving tour. This time, our destination was Laiyuan County. When I got off the car, I found that the air was extremely good, and most importantly, it wasn’t as hot as the city. A gentle breeze blew by, feeling very cool. Let’s explore the beauty of Laiyuan County together!
Why is Laiyuan County called this name? It is said that the name is very meaningful, taking the meaning of “the source of Lai water”. Laiyuan is known as the “Cool City” and the “Spring City”. The summer temperature is only 21.7 degrees Celsius, known as a natural air conditioner, and it is a provincial key scenic spot. Here, the mountains rise and fall, the valleys crisscross, and it is precisely because of these rich natural resources that it is a natural oxygen bar. This is the main purpose of my trip. After getting off the car, the air I breathe is indeed different.
Today we came to an unnamed canyon in Laiyuan (I specifically asked the locals about the name of the canyon, and they said it had no name). Let’s just call it the Unnamed Canyon. This time, the exploration arranged by the Explorer was very perfect. A strong donkey traverses about 15 kilometers. Those with poor physical strength can walk as far as they can and return along the original path. The advantage of the canyon is that there are basically no forks in the road, which makes it difficult to get lost. The arrangements along the way are also very appropriate. Before setting off, they all put up car stickers. During the journey, the convoy signaled with their hazard lights. The leader’s co-pilot diligently reported road conditions along the way, ensuring safety to the greatest extent. I would like to give a thumbs up to the Explorer Outdoor’s organizational ability.
Driving route:
Get on the expressway at Baoding Da Wangdian — turn from Beijing-Kunming to Rongwu — get off the expressway at Pocang — turn left onto Provincial Highway 241 — pass Yin Fang Town, after about 3/4 kilometer, turn right at the gas station and cross the bridge, enter the village and go straight along the small road — go to the stone wall of the Beigou Scenic Area — finally arrive at Princehui Village, find a place to park, and then walk inside to enter the Unnamed Valley. You can set Princehui Village as your navigation destination.
Before setting off, we took a group photo for the first time, capturing the excitement on everyone’s faces.
We arrived at our destination and couldn’t wait to pack up our belongings and set off…
The mountains are clear and the water is beautiful. The heavy rain a few days ago brought a vibrant life. The vegetation is sparkling clean, the streams have risen significantly, the water is clear after filtering through the rocks, and the greatest enjoyment of traversing the canyon is walking along the water all the way.
We were at the back, and we didn’t participate in the traverse. We had more time to play, enjoy the scenery, and take more photos. The air quality in Laiyuan is very good, and the blue sky and white clouds are very pleasing to the eye.
Looking up at the sky is also a kind of enjoyment. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to see such a sky in the city.
We passed a very small reservoir along the way. It wasn’t maintained and was buried by rocks.
This stone looks different from different angles. From this angle, it looks like a turtle’s head to me. What does it look like to you?
Every time I go into the mountains, I can’t help but look for strange stones. This time I found a few. Unleash your imagination, what do they look like in your eyes?
A funny thing happened. A big brother imitated a sheep’s bleating, and the little sheep in the picture above was actually fooled. It came closer and bleated loudly. When it realized it was wrong, it looked at us curiously.
These mountain goats are like the masters of this mountain. They looked at us curiously, as if they wanted to know what these many outsiders were doing here?
On our way back, we met two treasure-hunting brothers. They were looking for Tang River stones. They introduced Tang River jade in detail to us and showed us the Tang River stones they had found. This is the source of the Tang River. It is easy to wash out after heavy rain. I don’t have the patience, I gave up after looking for a while. I am not interested in that kind of thing.
We had just finished lunch and started to rest when thunder roared and heavy rain followed, with hail the size of beans. While taking shelter from the rain, we found that the entire valley was filled with the fresh smell of grass, truly experiencing the feeling of a natural oxygen bar.
The hazy beauty of the distant mountains after the downpour and the beams of light shining through the clouds, I don’t know how to describe it. It’s etched in my memory.
The biggest gain today, this strange stone looks like a pair of lovers, tightly embracing each other. I named it Eternal. No matter how strong the wind and rain, it cannot stop this love………….
Since we didn’t participate in the traverse, we set off on our return journey ahead of time. We met a local on the way and chatted with him for a while. It turns out there are other scenic spots here: the Beigou Scenic Area, which has a signpost before reaching Princehui Village. There is also a famous scenic spot called Yunpan Cave. Now we know the way. Next time, we will invite our friends to visit these scenic spots together, because these scenic spots are really quite good, and the scenery is also very charming.

【Mountaineering Tips】
1. When climbing, it is best to prepare insect repellent. There are quite a few mosquitos and insects in the mountains.
2. When climbing, try to bring only necessary items to reduce weight.
3. Do not drink water while climbing, it is bad for the heart.
4. Mountaineering shoes are a must. If not, running shoes are also fine. The most important thing is to be comfortable and non-slip.
