Where to Camp in Wuhan

Spring in Wuhan is a rare time of year when the weather is comfortable for outdoor activities. It’s also a great time to go camping. So, where are some good places to camp in Wuhan with beautiful scenery? Below, we’ve compiled a list of some recommended camping spots.

1. Ma’anshan Forest Park

Ma’anshan Forest Park is located in the eastern suburbs of Wuhan. It borders Luoyu East Road to the south, East Lake to the north, Jiufeng Port to the east, and Yujia Lake to the west. It belongs to the National Key Scenic Spot – East Lake Ecological Tourism Scenic Area’s Chui Di Scenic Area.

The park is named after the main peak, Ma’anshan, which is 136.02 meters above sea level and has 17 peaks of varying sizes. The park has a forest coverage rate of 80% and is known as the “Wuhan Back Garden” and the “Natural Oxygen Bar.” It’s one of the best places to camp.

2. Huangpi Nihe Reservoir

Nihe Reservoir is located in Huangpi District, Wuhan, 16 kilometers east of Mulan Mountain Scenic Area. The water here is clear, the scenery is beautiful, and the forest area on the east bank of the lake is home to over 100,000 birds, of which 30% are national level two protected animals.

In spring and autumn, egrets gather here in large numbers, creating a spectacular sight. It’s a great place to camp, play in the water, and go fishing.

3. Fuhe Suburb Park

Fuhe Suburb Park is located in Jiang’an District, Wuhan, Hubei Province. It covers a vast area with high green coverage and pleasant scenery. The park has leisure trails and rest pavilions, making it a great place for a weekend picnic and stroll.

It’s close to the city center and has a wide view. You can fly kites, watch the sunset, and enjoy the outdoors. It’s an excellent place to camp.

4. Caidian Flower Expo

Flower Expo is located in the Houguan Lake Ecological New City, Caidian District. It’s a French-style cultural and tourism town built using existing villages, flower fields, rivers, and lakes. The scenic area features vibrant flower seas, bustling crowds, and beautiful scenes like the French town and the food culture street.

Flower Expo integrates flower tourism, creative agricultural experiences, rural health resort vacations, water leisure entertainment, beautiful village experiences, and flower trade and exhibitions, meeting people’s needs for returning to nature, enjoying a slow pace of life, and rural vacations.

This season, you can set up a tent under the shade of trees, on the lawn, next to the flowers, or under the playground in Flower Expo and enjoy a leisurely time of admiring flowers, taking pictures, and camping.

5. Mulan Grassland

Mulan Grassland Scenic Area covers 4,800 acres and is divided into a grassland scenery tourism area and a leisure resort area. It integrates grassland scenery sightseeing, outdoor expansion, water entertainment, business conferences, and leisure vacations. It’s currently the only 4A-level scenic area in central China with grassland scenery as its theme.

There are alpacas and Shetland ponies on the grassland, and you can go horseback riding, archery, and watch grassland-style song and dance performances and equestrian performances.

Mulan Grassland is also a popular destination for cultural tent camping. On the grassland, tents are scattered in a neat and orderly manner. You can enjoy tea and chat under the stars, watch the scenery, and enjoy a leisurely and wonderful time.

6. Matou Tan Cultural Relic Park

Matou Tan Cultural Relic Park is located in the middle of Wujiashan New Town, Wuhan City. The site belongs to the remains of the late Qujiaoling Culture to the Hubei Longshan Culture period, with a long history. There are scenic spots such as West Dike Misty Rain, Stacked Stone Creek, and Matou Tan Cultural and Tourism Town.

In the park, you can set up a tent on the hillside, by the lake, or under the flowers and trees. Bring your friends and family, prepare picnic items, and fully enjoy the wonderful camping, leisure, and romantic atmosphere.
