Speaking of Wuyuan, we usually think of rapeseed flowers. Every year, many people go to Wuyuan to see the large fields of rapeseed flowers. So, it is a little bit off-season to write this guide, but let’s take a look at what’s fun to do in Wuyuan at this time of year.
The popular route in spring for Wuyuan tourism is the East Line. The attractions included in the East Line ticket are Likeng, Wangkou, Jiangwan, Xiaqi, and Jiangling terraced fields of rapeseed flowers; non-ticketed attractions include Qingyuan, Huangling, and Shimen Mountain Gorge.
If you are traveling solo, just stay wherever you go (this is mainly for backpackers). If you are traveling by chartered car, it is recommended to stay in the county town or in a farmhouse inn on the East Line.
The North Line ticket includes attractions such as Sixi Yancun, Rainbow Bridge, Chandian Ancient Banyan, Wolong Valley, Lingyan Cave, and Shi Cheng; non-ticketed attractions include Chapingtan, Likeng, Qingfeng Wonderland, Hongcun, and Yuantou Ancient Village. You can choose the attractions you want to visit and plan your accommodation accordingly.
Here is a simple 4-day itinerary for Wuyuan that you can use as a reference.
The different scenic spots in Wuyuan are quite far apart, so it is recommended to charter a car while you are in Wuyuan. The price of a chartered car is around 300-550 yuan/day. If you can drive, it is best to rent a car, which will be much cheaper than chartering a car.
Day 1. If you arrive in Wuyuan in the morning or at noon, you can first visit the museum and Jiayuan, and in the evening, stay in the county town to watch a performance or enjoy the night view. Wuyuan County Town also has a large-scale “Dreamland Old Home” real-life landscape performance, which is well worth seeing.
Day 2. Visit the North Line: Lingyan Cave, Dazhang Mountain Wolong Valley, Bai Zhu Zongci, Rainbow Bridge, Sixi Yancun.
Day 3. Visit the East Line: Moon Bay, Likeng, Jiangwan, Jiangling, Qingyuan, Xiaqi, etc.
Friendly reminder: It is recommended not to stay in the county town on day 2 and day 3, and you can choose to stay in the scenic area according to your itinerary. Likeng and Jiangwan are good places to stay.
Day 4. Visit Huangling in the morning and return in the afternoon.
Changxi Village is located in the southwest of Wuyuan County. It is secluded and a typical village with Huizhou architecture hidden in the mountains.
In the golden autumn, the leaves are ablaze with color. The Huizhou ancient villages nestled beside the mountains and rivers create a picturesque ink-wash landscape painting, full of tranquility and serenity.
The dazzling red leaves are chased by the rustling autumn wind, and the falling petals fill the mountains and valleys with a fluttering dance. In the maple forest, the ancient houses and maple leaves have already become one, captivating the heart.
Wuyuan County has 1 AAAAA-level tourist attraction and 11 4A-level tourist attractions, making it the county with the most 4A-level tourist attractions in the country. It is also the only national AAA-level tourist attraction named after the entire county.
