My classmate came to Beijing to visit me during the winter break, so I made a travel plan and want to share it with you.

Regarding transportation, it is very convenient here. You can rely on the subway for travel. I haven’t taken the bus for a long time.

Regarding accommodation, it’s best to choose a place near the subway for convenient travel.

Below are some attractions I would like to introduce to you.

Tiananmen SquareForbidden CityJingshan Park. Closed on Mondays. Bring your ID card and student ID card. Take the subway to Tiananmen Square Station first. In Tiananmen Square, you can visit Tiananmen Square, Monument to the People’s Heroes, Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, Great Hall of the People, National Museum of China (requires ID card)…

After visiting Tiananmen Square, enter the Forbidden City from Tiananmen Square. You can buy tickets online in advance, which is cheaper. Exit from the north gate of the Forbidden City to Jingshan Park and overlook the Forbidden City.

Then you can go to Dongdan Wangfujing or Xidan to eat and shop (the food street in Wangfujing is expensive and not authentic, and it is not delicious. There are too many people, I don’t recommend going there to eat. Local people rarely go there, they are all trying to cheat tourists. Xidan is where people in Beijing like to go. Although it doesn’t look as prosperous as Wangfujing, the prices are reasonable and there are many restaurants).

Temple of Heaven – Qianmen – Dashilan. Go to the Temple of Heaven to experience the royal sacrifices, then you can take the bus or subway to Qianmen Street to experience the Republic of China style. There is a Xianyu Kou food street inside. It is recommended to dine there. There are many old Beijing snacks, the taste is good and it’s not very expensive. You can try different flavors from different shops. I like to eat different flavors of grilled offal there… There is also a Dashilan street inside, with many shops to browse.

Drum Tower – Yandai Xiejie – Houhai – Nanluoguxiang: These are all together. You can visit them all in one day and experience the hutong culture of Beijing. There are many restaurants near Drum Tower and Houhai. There are many famous snacks on Nanluoguxiang. You can have your meals there. It is recommended to go to Houhai at night, where there is a famous bar street. It’s not interesting during the day.

Yonghe Temple, Summer Palace, Yuanmingyuan Garden, Beihai Park: It is recommended to go in summer, there is nothing to see in winter.

Gongwangfu, Guozijian, Ming Tombs: You can go or not… Consider visiting if it’s on your way.

Great Wall Day Trip: He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true man. You must visit the Great Wall when you come to Beijing. The most famous ones are the Badaling Great Wall and Mutianyu Great Wall. The Mutianyu Great Wall ticket is much cheaper than the Badaling one, and the scenery is similar. Choose the one that is convenient for you to visit.

Skiing: If you are from the south and come to play during the winter, you can go skiing. There are many ski resorts near Beijing. You can buy tickets online, which is cheaper.

Bird’s Nest, Water Cube: These are very distinctive buildings, but they are a bit far from the city center. I personally think it’s a place you can visit or not.

Peking University, Tsinghua University: University attractions, you can visit if you are interested.

Beijing Happy Valley: Many cities have Happy Valley. If you haven’t been there, you can choose to visit if you like amusement parks. If you are going, get there early, otherwise you will have to wait in line, and you won’t be able to play many games in one day.

798 Art District: You can consider going if you are interested in art, otherwise it is not very interesting.

Sanlitun, Blue Harbor: A trendy area, locals love to go there. In the day, you can go shopping, there are big brands. It’s a good place to go shopping for clothes. Sanlitun is popular with people who want to go to nightclubs at night. If you want to go to nightclubs, you can consider Sanlitun and Workers’ Stadium, but if you are not interested, you can skip it. It’s not a place with tourist features.

That’s about it for the tourist attractions… Let me tell you about the old Beijing food.

Peking Roast Duck, a must-try! You don’t have to eat it at Quanjude. It’s expensive. You can consider Da Dong Roast Duck, Bianyifang Roast Duck or Jinbaitian Roast Duck instead. The taste is similar, all very authentic.

Old Beijing Zhajiangmian (Noodles with Fermented Bean Paste), you can consider the one in Qianmen Xianyu Kou food street.
