1、Travel Guide
Tianqiao Gou is located in the northern part of Kuandian County, Dandong City, about 60 kilometers from the county seat. This place was once the “Dragon Raising Place” during the Qing Dynasty, so it has not been damaged for hundreds of years. The mountains are covered with dense forests, many ancient trees, and clear mountain springs and streams. The environment is very beautiful. The landform here is unique, with many strange peaks and rocks on the mountain, with different shapes, which can be viewed and played one by one. In autumn, the whole mountain is covered with maple leaves, which is the best place to watch and photograph red leaves.
Tianqiao Gou Scenic Area is very large, with more than 70 scenic spots to visit within the scenic area. On the east side of the scenic area, there are four peaks: Tiangong, Lianhua Peak, Yuquan Peak, and Xiaoyue Peak. Each peak is a scenic spot group, with many scenic spots to visit. The west side is a wooden boardwalk, and there are also many scenic spots distributed around the boardwalk. Most scenic spots need to be visited on foot, but the road in the scenic area is basically parallel to the trail, and there are several intersections in the middle. When you are not strong enough, you can walk down the trail to the road and take the scenic spot’s sightseeing bus to the next intersection or return to the entrance of the scenic spot.
The recommended route is to take the shuttle bus to the foot of Lianhua Peak on the first day, climb Lianhua Peak, and climb Yuquan Peak and Xiaoyue Peak from the connected trails. You can take the bus back to the entrance of the scenic spot after descending from Xiaoyue Peak. This day’s tour takes about 7 hours. On the second day, visit the wooden boardwalk and Tiangong scenic area separately, and then leave. If you only have one day, you can consider omitting the second day’s itinerary.
Lianhua Peak is over 900 meters above sea level and is the most beautiful part of the scenic area. There is a saying that “you haven’t been to Tianqiao Gou if you haven’t climbed Lianhua Peak.” There are many steep cliffs and strange rocks in the mountains. It is a representative of the unique and dangerous landforms of the scenic area. One Line Sky, Welcoming Pine, Black Bear Cave, etc. have their own characteristics, so you must not miss them.
Xiaoyue Peak is a must-visit place in autumn. Here, the forest is dense, and there are many maple trees and birch trees in the woods. Every autumn, when you climb Xiaoyue Peak, there are beautiful red leaves along the way and on the top of the mountain. The wooden boardwalk route is different from the other mountain climbing routes. It runs through the forest at a lower altitude, feeling very quiet and natural.
