Orchid Island is in Taiwan, a place that’s perfect for living. It doesn’t have the fast pace of first-tier cities, just soft Taiwanese accents and endless delicious food, or maybe some beautiful scenery. But whatever, I still love this place.
Both Da Bao and I are coming to Taiwan for the second time. We didn’t know each other the first time we came to Taiwan. We both have a soft spot for Taiwan. I like Taiwan’s cleanliness, politeness, endless delicious food and soft Taiwanese girls’ accents. He can’t forget that small island Orchid Island with few tourists and beautiful scenery. We agreed on the idea of coming to Taiwan for the second time immediately, and we took action immediately.
I’ve been to Taipei before, all the way south to Hualien, Kenting, Kaohsiung. The most common route, you can see relevant travel notes in the nest, Hualien’s dolphins, Kenting’s streets, are very worth a visit, will not be repeated here.
Our itinerary is simple. We’re determined to go to Orchid Island. But because we got good value tickets to Taipei, we had to take a detour (we found out later that it was worth it).
Taipei – Tainan – Kenting – Orchid Island – Taipei
Day 1 Taipei – Tainan There is a high-speed rail from Taipei Taoyuan Airport to Tainan High-speed Rail Station. Then you can take the Taiwan Railway to the city center, which is very convenient and the signs are very clear.
After arriving in Tainan and checking into the hotel, we changed clothes and went straight to the Garden Night Market.

Day 2 Tainan – Kaohsiung – Kenting This is a day of rushing.
Take the Taiwan Railway from Tainan to Xinzuoying Station. Xinzuoying Station is Kaohsiung’s high-speed rail station. Don’t go to Zuoying Station, there are no buses to Kenting there.
We were originally going to take the bus after getting off the Taiwan Railway, but then we were approached by a driver who offered to take us by car. We thought the price was not much different, and the car was faster and would take us directly to the hotel, so we agreed.
It turned out that the car was indeed very fast. We stayed in Kenting’s Houbihu area, because we had to take the boat to Orchid Island early the next morning. At the time, we chose a newly opened hotel called Blue Cave Diving, thinking that as fellow divers, it should be better. It turned out to be very average. Mark it for everyone.

Day 3 Orchid Island
Orchid Island is an isolated island that’s beautiful beyond words.
Tickets: Departing from Kenting Houbihu, Green Island or Taitung. It’s best to book tickets in advance with the innkeeper.
Tickets: It’s very difficult to buy tickets, most are supplied to island residents.
Be prepared to ride the boat, it’s best to take motion sickness medication in advance, it doesn’t fill you up easily. It’s best to close your eyes and sleep as soon as you get on the boat. I’m giving you a friendly tip, I threw up once on the way there and three times on the way back, I almost threw up all my bile.
However, everything is worth it. The moment you step onto the island, you’ll find that everything is worth it.

Day 4
When we arrived at Orchid Island, it was a storm, and the weather forecast also showed that it would be raining for the next three days. We were devastated. But the next day the sun miraculously came out, the sea and the sky were connected, the whole island was surrounded by blue sea and blue sky, the photos we took were completely lazy to p, because, that’s the palette of heaven.
The island has everything it should have, just not as prosperous as the mainland on the other side. It retains the most primitive natural beauty. It’s not an exaggeration to call it the most beautiful natural landscape in all of China, at least that’s what I think.

On that sunny day in Orchid Island, we rented a scooter and rode around the island. Da Bao was coming for the second time and took me to many scenic spots. We went diving in the afternoon and had barbecue in the evening with the sea breeze and sunset.
As we were planning how to play the next day, the innkeeper brought us bad news. We had to either leave the island on the only boat tomorrow, or wait indefinitely. Because the weather was very bad for the next few days, the shipping company refused to sail for safety reasons, and the plane was also grounded. We discussed it for a long time, feeling very reluctant to leave the island the next day.
So that night, we went to the Qingqing Grassland to see the stars under the cover of night. I felt for the first time walking in the dark with the moonlight, and it was also the first time I saw such a spectacular Milky Way, the Milky Way over the Pacific Ocean.

Day 6 Orchid Island – Taitung –
Taipei There were quite a lot of people on the boat that day, because all those who were supposed to leave the island in the last three days were gathered together. We were lucky to get on the boat with one of the last few spots. We don’t know how the rest of the people left the island.
It turned out that the shipping company was very insightful. The boat we left on that day encountered such a big wave that it was terrifying. The whole boat experienced exactly the same experience as a roller coaster in the first 10 minutes after leaving the port. It was thrown into the sky, fell into the water, and the heart was constantly challenged. Severe dizziness made me throw up for the first time, I fell asleep, woke up and threw up a second time, then a third time. It was also bitter.
We arrived in Taitung that day and took the Taiwan Railway to Taipei for a good sleep. We thought our trip was going to be ruined, but it turned out to be a brilliant highlight of the trip after we started our eating spree.

Day 7 Taipei
It’s so cheap, isn’t it!?!? And it’s fresh to the max~ So much so that we both thought that if the tickets were right, we could take a weekend flight to Taipei just to have a meal.
There’s also a hot pot buffet, high-grade beef, Haagen-Dazs, all kinds of seafood, you can’t stuff yourself silly.
