Badaling is probably the most famous section of the Great Wall, especially for those who come to Beijing for tourism. They usually go to Badaling. For this reason, the tourism development of Badaling Great Wall is the most mature. Especially after the opening of Line S2, it is more convenient to go from the city to Yanqing.

I have been to Badaling twice. The first time I went there was before the opening of the railway Line S2. I took a bus from Dongzhimen. At that time, it was midsummer, the sun was scorching hot, although the vegetation along the Great Wall was lush, but there was almost no shade on the wall, and it was really hot. Unfortunately, the photos were accidentally lost during the sorting and transmission process. It was not until a long time later that I found out that there was no trace of the data to be restored. I had to give up.

This time, a friend came to Peking University from Wuhan University to attend a series of lectures. He stayed in Beijing for eight days, so I took the opportunity to accompany him to the Badaling Great Wall again. It was also an opportunity for me to go out and play. This time, I planned to take the S2 line, but I didn’t do my homework well and ended up running around in vain. We met at Beijing North Station at 8 o’clock in the morning. Unexpectedly, because of the construction of the line, the starting station of the S2 line was changed to Huangtudian. We had to take the subway to Huangtudian, but we missed the 8:40 train. If we insisted on taking the train, we would have to wait until 11:06, which would be a bit of a waste of time. Moreover, if we arrived too late, we might come back in the dark. After hesitating, my classmate and I decided to take a private minivan at the door, 50 yuan each. It was definitely more expensive than taking the train, but it was acceptable. If you go to Badaling in the summer, and you have plenty of time, I suggest you wait for the train. Five hours is enough. Even if you come back late, it’s okay.

Think about it, 100 yuan is gone, but how can it be compared with your ID card? If it is lost, it will be a big trouble. Moreover, if someone takes it to make a copy, it will also be troublesome. I really don’t understand those who deposit their ID cards… From the Chadao Ancient City to the Badaling Great Wall, it takes about half an hour to walk. On the way, we passed the Badaling Station of the S2 line. Even if we missed the minivan, we could still take a train back for a few yuan.

I didn’t expect that the ticket for the Badaling Great Wall could be half price with a graduate student ID card. It feels so great! After buying the ticket, you can go to an official place where they issue certificates, where you can get a free “Not a true man until you’ve reached the Great Wall” certificate. They will take a photo of the tourists with the Great Wall as the backdrop and laminate it. This is a paid service. Actually, I think the price is fair, but my classmate didn’t want a photo, so I didn’t want one either.

In March in Beijing, the weather is still cold and a bit bleak, which matches the temperament of the Great Wall. Although it was the off-season, the weather was clear and there were many tourists. It is advisable to wear a scarf and hat, as the wind on the Great Wall is biting cold and can make your face sore. The Badaling Great Wall Cable Car. Last time I came to Badaling, I went to the bear park by chance, but it was actually just a few lazy bears, haha. This time I didn’t go to see the bears, but went to the Great Wall Museum.
