Is There Camping on Mount Hua? Camping Guide Included

Mount Hua Scenic Area allows camping, but it also provides accommodation. If you are planning to camp, it is recommended that you bring your own camping gear. Renting camping gear on the mountain is quite expensive. For a detailed Mount Hua Scenic Area camping guide, please refer to the information below.

I. Camping Guide

The area around the East Peak Sunrise Viewing Platform offers free camping. However, it’s important to note that renting camping equipment on Mount Hua is even more expensive than staying in a mountaintop hotel. It is recommended to bring your own camping gear and take the cable car up the mountain for sightseeing. However, carrying heavy camping gear while exploring Mount Hua can be quite challenging. Plus, the area gets quite crowded at night, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep.

Besides camping on Mount Hua, if you want to stay on the mountain to watch the stars and sunrise, you can also choose to stay in a mountaintop hotel.

There are accommodation options like the North Peak Hotel and the Five Clouds Peak Hotel on the mountain, providing a convenient option for tourists. As the cable car starts operating as early as 7:00 am, staying at the foot of the mountain and wanting to see the sunrise would require a night climb. For those with limited physical abilities but who still want to watch the sunrise, staying on the mountain is a good choice. However, the accommodation conditions on the mountain are very basic, and it gets quite cold at night, so don’t expect too much. The accommodation prices are not cheap, especially during peak season, and you need to book in advance as rooms are often fully booked. You can find bookings on websites like Ctrip and eLong. Accommodation at the East Peak is the most sought-after, as it offers the best views of the sunrise and better conditions. Accommodation at the West Peak is the most affordable on the mountain and provides the best view of the sunset. (PS: There is no water for showering at the mountaintop hotels; be sure to haggle the price!)

III. Accommodation at the Foot of the Mountain

1. Yuquan Road and surrounding area: Yuquan Road leads directly to the entrance of Mount Hua, and most of the accommodation at the foot of the mountain is located here. Staying here is convenient for preparing for the climb, as there are restaurants, banks, supermarkets, and shops nearby. There are various types of accommodation options, and the prices are relatively cheaper.

2. Mount Hua East Gate: The East Gate is where the cable car starts and leads to the mountain. Hotels in this area have relatively better facilities. Beyond the mountain gate is the winding mountain road, which ends at the cable car station and the starting point of the “Strategic Capture of Mount Hua Road.” Not far from the East Gate is the Mount Hua Ecological Square and the Visitor Center, with park buses operating during the day.

3. Huayin City: Accommodation conditions in Huayin City are generally better than those on Mount Hua, and the prices are more affordable. It is recommended to stay in chain hotels. The dining prices in the city are also more reasonable, with a wider variety of dishes and flavors than those on Mount Hua. It takes about 10 minutes to get to the mountain gate from Huayin City by car.
