Recommended Free Camping Spots in Beijing

Outdoor camping has always been a popular activity. Every weekend, you’ll see people posting their camping experiences on their social media. If you haven’t been camping yet, you may already be planning your next trip. So, where are some free camping spots worth visiting in Beijing?

1、Chaoyang District

Dam River Bank

Near the East Fifth Ring Road, along the bank of Dam River.

Wenyu River Park

Located at the junction of Chaoyang, Shunyi, and Changping Districts, both the East Garden and West Garden have camping spots. Cars cannot enter the park, so you can park at the west gate. Free camping is allowed. Open flames and gas stoves are prohibited.

Yanshan Park

Located within the Fifth Ring Road of Beijing, this free park allows camping. It is not far from Aoshan Park and is located on Anli Road.

Guta Park

A small park in Chaoyang, with a designated camping area near the south gate.

2、Tongzhou District

Chaobai River Xiji Section in Tongzhou

You can search for “Chaobai River Camping Picnic Fishing Spot” on navigation. The location is in Tongzhou, with Langfang on the opposite side of the river.

Dam River

Located along the bank of Dam River in Tongzhou District, you can navigate to Jinyu Road Gaoantun North Station, turn right at the traffic lights and reach the riverbank for camping.

Majuqiao Wetland Park

Located in the Phase 2 of Majuqiao Wetland Park on the South Sixth Ring Road.

3、Huairou District

Baihe Bay

Many places in Baihe Bay, Huairou District, are suitable for camping.

Lihuagou in Huairou

You can go to Lihuagou, Liuduhe, or Wuduhe nearby.

4、Miyun District

Miyun Bulaotun

Go in from the small road near the Bulaotun Observatory.

Qingshui River

Located in Miyun, you can camp along the riverbank where there is open space. You can also go fishing.

Dongjiao Forest Wetland Park

Near the west gate of the park, there is a designated camping area for tents.

Many places near Pearl Lake in Mentougou District are suitable for camping.

Wild Creek

Search for “Wild Creek Manshui Bridge” on navigation. Walk along the bridge, and there are many places along the banks for creek exploration. Choose shallow areas for creek exploration and picnics.

Xiaweidian

Search for “Mentougou Xiaweidian Dragon King Temple” on navigation. Find a suitable spot along the riverbank.

Luopoling

Navigate to Luopoling/Qingshuijian. Go down to the riverbank when you see a downhill road. The water is clear and the scenery is beautiful, with a large shallow area.

Dingjiatan

Dingjiatan is most famous for its hiking route. Besides the hiking route, there are also shallow areas. Walk along the road and you will find shallow areas for creek exploration and picnics.

8、Yanqing District

Baili Gallery

Yanqing District (Xianaishan Village) or Xianaishan Bridge.

Baihe River

Located in Yanqing, Luanchi Road. Walk eastward along the riverbank for about several kilometers. There are riverbanks suitable for camping. The reservoir may release water sometimes, so camp away from the river channel. Be sure to pay attention to safety.
