3、Xinglong Mountain Skiing Transportation Guide

Direct bus to the ski resort: Every morning at 08:20, gather at the west entrance of Nongmin Alley, Dongfanghong Square (parking lot south of Hualian), and depart. Gather at 16:00 in the afternoon and return, arriving in the city around 17:00. Round trip 30 yuan/person.

The fare needs to be paid in advance. If you can’t go there temporarily because of something on the day, the fare cannot be refunded. We do not accept the arrangement of seats in the front and back. It is a first-come, first-served basis. If you want to sit in the front row, you have to get to the gathering place early to get on the bus.

Bus route: Take a bus from Tianshui Road Intersection (intersection of Tianshui Road and Dingxi Road) in Lanzhou City to Yuzhong County, and take a taxi to the ski resort after arriving in the county (it takes about 10 minutes to take a taxi, costing about 15 yuan/car).

Self-driving: There are many optional routes. We choose a route that is the most convenient, fastest, and saves trouble and time when driving:

4、Xinglong Mountain Hiking Free Tour

One morning in winter, I braved the drizzle and set off from Xinglong Town to Xinglong Mountain, which is one kilometer away. After crossing the Taiyang River Bridge and approaching the foot of the mountain, the clouds suddenly cleared, revealing the warm winter sunlight, so I picked up my steps and climbed up the mountain. Although it was a concrete road, it was slippery and steep due to the recent rain and the moss on the road surface. If you were not careful, you would fall head over heels.
When I reached the middle of the mountain, the road stretched diagonally along the hillside, and I felt it was not as steep as when I first ascended the mountain. The scenery along the road seemed more beautiful. There were trees with purple flowers, and various unnamed small grass flowers were blooming in clusters. The pale white flowers of wild vegetables were tucked among the leaves, and there were small water droplets hanging on the leaves. In the valley, there are towering green betel nut trees, with nearly ripe betel nuts hanging from the clusters of leaves. These are old fruits reserved for seed; there are also betel nut trees without fruit and only bare poles. The green fruits on these trees were cut off and sold to betel nut vendors early, because the price of Hainan betel nut green fruits is very high this year.

On the hillside, there are large tracts of rubber plantations. Now is the dry season, and only bare branches stretch towards the blue sky. There are also many vegetation on the mountain, and most of the roadside are green roadside trees.

Many elderly people from inland areas who come to Hainan for vacation, escaping the cold and spending the winter, still have strong legs and feet. They come to climb mountains for fitness in groups of three or two. There are husbands supporting wives, wives supporting husbands, and even those with crutches. They walk slowly, as if they are indifferent to the scenery on the roadside. One old woman even holds a bunch of wild vegetables in her hand.

Xinglong was originally a small market town. In the early 1950s, overseas Chinese returning from Malaya, Indonesia and other places were settled here, and Xinglong Overseas Chinese Farm was established. There are also retired and demobilized soldiers who responded to Chairman Mao’s call to “strengthen defense and consolidate Hainan”, came to the farm, and participated in frontier construction.

A river called Taiyang River runs through Xinglong Xiaoshi and meanders northeast. On the east side of the Taiyang River, there are hot springs with good water quality. During the “Cultural Revolution”, the Corps Headquarters opened up a reception center for senior leaders. The older generation of central leaders of our country, Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De and Deng Xiaoping, have all visited here for inspection, and Xinglong became famous for this reason.

But now I want to climb to the top of Xinglong Mountain, and I only see a tall wall. A tall radio and television signal transmitting tower towering into the clouds stands at the highest point in the middle of the wall. It was built in the 1970s. At that time, it was the transmitting center of “red signals”, so it was guarded by high walls and guarded by militiamen. Now the wall is full of betel nut trees and there is a house for one family. The original radio and television signal transmitting tower has been changed to a wireless signal transmitting tower, which is used to receive and transmit satellite signals.

I finally climbed to the top of the mountain as I wished, and I saw the real face of “Lushan Mountain”. Although I don’t know why Xinglong Mountain has not been developed into a tourist attraction, it is visited by tourists or “migratory bird elderly” escaping the cold every day, and they are happy to do so. For no other reason, it is to exercise your legs and feet, breathe the abundant oxygen in the air on the mountain, and look at the scenery below casually and take some photos to leave behind your footprints of traveling here.
